  • How come the company (REFORGED RIGS LIMITED) is removed from the NZ Business Registry?

Just looks like managing two independent companies for the same thing was just a hassle.

      This one existed first

My guess is payment services and banks and stuff wanted to do a full second registration and it wasn't worth it for a small business, as well as Shovelware there's also "Motherboard Pro" under it.

I've got a few businesses under my name, with the majority of them not actually operating because you play with business names but eventually the bureaucracy around registrations, managing multiple bank accounts, IRD numbers etc is what gets you, but I still pay annual return fees and file IRD nil returns every year because I want the names.

We are actually t/a so have a parent company registration. Have been in the space a very long time and are probably familiar to many who trawl facebook marketplace. There are a few reddit threads on us if you do a google. At one point we did register a second (which you've come across) but we let it lapse because it was double the accounting work and a big headache with banking and the rest of it.

The other thing you could do to verify we exist is do a reverse image search and find that these are not stock photo's and we actually painstakingly photograph every system.

  • Awesome set ups. sharp prices.

Just be mindful these are made from second hand parts. I purchased a system once from them which had a faulty motherboard which refused to boot, upon my replacement the GPU has quite a bit of coil while (loud static noises) when under load. I was totally aware of the risks in buying second hand & I was probably just unlucky. The PC runs great too & the seller did swap the system & bring the replacement to me - although they did offer a complimentary keyboard for the troubles as I was without a computer for a few days; which I never ended up receiving. Overall good if you want to save some money but be aware there are some risks.

I looked at some of the speaks on some of the machines and was wondering why those three month warranty on the GPUs.

For the money I'd rather buy brand new honestly.

    • We offer as much warranty as we can, that makes sense for the age of the component, and the price point of the system. Take the RTX 3070 for example, we would love to offer 1,2, or 3 year warranties on them but they are half a decade old now. Excellent bang for buck but are older components. You could argue, why not get a new RTX 4060 or something like that, and we do offer new builds, but the raw performance of some of NVIDIA's older hardware stack allow for some interesting configurations that compete with the likes of the RTX 5060 and 4060Ti. So, while not for everyone, we do sell plenty of them which really speaks to the glut that is NVIDIA's low and mid range offerings for 5 years now. Always appreciate feedback and input though as I would never want to create a narrative that older, used hardware is as reliable or safe as brand new. As with anything in life, there is an element of risk, especially with electronics. That said, we are starting to triple down on making sure we provide a fair service so that peoples experiences are positive. I think in future we could really start looking at providing 1 year or more on say, an RTX 3000 series card but would have to bake that into margins and/or offer extended warranties (which I'm aware are not really well received with NZ consumers). In the spirit of keeping prices sharp though, I will need to make a decision on it that makes commercial sense.
