A couple cocktails each and you won't be far off.

or taking kids etc.
Not every cheapie is in the same situation…

Having a quick look at the list there are at least 10 restaurants in Auckland that two people could spend $150 at without trying too hard. Add kid or a couple of friends and you'd be hard pressed to stay under that.

Eh, very very normal for us.
I am a cheapie because I like getting deals… not because I need deals :P

May be able to double up with First Table

You definitely can. There are limited number on first table that are eligible but for example Inati in christchurch could be good. 4 adults first table there could do well

As a standalone offer this is far from the best offering we have seen from Amex. But I imagine you could also combine this with the likes of First Table, and that makes it pretty useful.

i came here for the comments, did not disappoint.

same

Had a quick look, these ones have restaurant month menus until end of month:
Ahi, botswana, cafe hanoi, cassia, culprit, gilt, giraffe, harbourside, hello beasty, huami, hugos bistro, masu, metita, mr morris, odettes, origine, somm, soul bar, white+wongs.

Can any smart person do a check on see whats on the entertainment book against whats on the list. Could do a nice double discount (someone did this in the past - probably last year)

In Welly there's Dockside (BOGOF) and Shed 5 (25% off)

With my Amex card (now discontinued Platinum Charge) I get a couple $150 dining credits each year. I wonder if this will stack with one of those credits, so I'd get $180 back, of if by activating this offer it will know to treat it as a standalone offer

I was thinking the same, I have the Amex Gold and I got the offer in my app as well. I do have the usual $100 dining credit that I get 2 for each year. I wonder if I can stack them together. Dine for $150 and pay $20 would be nice :)

Last time this deal occurred I received both credits on the single spend over $150. Assuming no terms have changed it should still work that way.

Yes, you can. I used the $150 credit stacked with $30 refund at Cable bay vineyard restaurant last year. Just make sure to activate the $30 offer in the app and the system takes care of the rest. You can also order bottles of wine to take away from the restaurant included in the total bill, incase your food bill isn't quite $150.

Yes, its doable. There was a similar offer few years back and I got both credits of $150 and $30 separately on a $150+ bill.

Remember AMEX is positioned for premium skewed customers, so its very easy to spend $150 at restaurants included. 1-2 drinks, main, desert and you're easily at $75 each.

not for cheapies eh ?

cheapies+
or
premium cheapies

It hits different on premium imho

as someone who doesnt have an amex card, do a lot of stores accept amex now in new zealand? curious if i should give them a try

Most major store chains, petrol stations, insurance companies. 80-90% of our spending goes on AMEX

Is that in one transaction? Yeah right. Can't imagine many cheapies casually dine for $150 lol
