Motorola G85 5G Cobalt Blue $299 + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Noel Leeming

240

Cheapest I've ever seen it.
Quite a good low-midrange phone with a 5000mah battery, a nice 8GB of ram, and eSIM support (Not dual eSIM, unfortunately - 1 of each max).
Could be a good phone for vacations and overseas trips where you don't want to be getting a ton of physical SIMs.

  • Good price & specs. It's a shame about the curved display

    • +1

What's wrong with that? I always want one with a curved display.

      • Usually just personal preference, but I think it can also make it a bit harder to find good cases/screen protectors :)

        • +1

Yea, you have to use those soft ones…. Well only $299. I will give it try :)

      • I found it annoying because your fingers accidentally touch the side and messes up what you're doing sometimes. The g54 has similar specs & price without the curved display, has an IPS too if you're worried about OLED burn or green line of death

        • can you return a phone if the front camera is not centered…

      • My oneplus with its curved display makes contact with my palm when in use and the screen protector doesnt cover that part.

  • Thanks, just bought one. Now, where can I get a phone case and a screen protector?

    • +1

      Probably Aliexpress

      • I had a quick look on YouTube, it seems like it comes with a phone case?

        • I think it does come with a thin case.
And yeah, Aliexpress is probably your best bet, they ship to your door in around a week nowadays. Might as well buy another case from there.

          • @Melodiam: Sweet, should be alright then. :) No need for another one.

        • Yes is does - https://www.spark.co.nz/online/shop/large-business-govt/prod…

The g05,g20, and the g6 did.

Just need a screen protector and the one provided is just a sticker with instructions.

  • What are they normally worth ?

    • $500 at PB Tech I think!

Usually $320 to $350 on special

  • +2

i bought it on special at 329 from noel leemings a week ago, this is great price, phone is great. wont beat those specs
    for that price.

    • Do you know if it has VoWiFi in NZ?

    • +1

I'm already using the G04 and it's quite snappy

    • If you go back in store they may refund you the difference

    • Only can use skinny sim?

      • If it doesn't say locked, then it's unlocked

        • Yea its unlocked. :)

  • I see it somes with a Skinny sim. Does anyone know if it's locked to Spark/Skinny? I'd like to get this for travel and would be getting a local sim - unsure what Thailand network yet.

    • I just saw that! I want to know that tooo

    • I just asked them they said: this phone is unlocked you can use any network with this mobile phone

    • +1

The Skinny Sim card is a complimentary bonus sim card -this comes with the phone

Been reading some reddit reviews, No updates have been available September 2024….. and voice over Wi-Fi doesn't seem to exist on New Zealand networks for these.

That's my two cents however yes an unbeatable phone at that price apart from the curved screen and lack of updates.

If anyone of you fine folks could confirm whether or not this has VoWiFi in NZ that would be awesome.

  • +1

thanks for posting my mum just picked one up i set it up for her and its amazing phone for 299

    • +1

Yea, it is pretty good for 299, 2k screen, okay camera, 120hz frame drops in some scenes overall pretty good.

  • This is sad:

Security updates will stop on June, 2028

    • By then you would have upgraded to one of them flip phones, which will cost only $299 in 2028 lol

  • Got this earlier in the week, just as a temporary phone - it is awesome for its price and such cool gestures and things. Just a little different interface than I'm used to with Samsung, but hey, for $299, I can adjust ahaha!!
