Censorship is quietly deciding which games you can buy.

We are fighting back.

Some games vanish. Not because they broke the law but because someone decided they shouldn’t exist.

For 48 hours, these games are free, because if a game is legal, you should be free to buy it.

      That's (profanity) insane.

      • +1

It hasn't been for the past 21 years

        • +1

It wasn't 21 years ago, it was only in… oh, 2004. Damn 😞

I played it in high school BECAUSE it was banned. Wow so edgy.

The game doesn't even make you commit violence anyway, so the banning is stupid. The whole game is a critique on video games, violence in media and our short attention span, hence many of the game's mechanics are there to test your mental fortitude and whatever the outcome is, is a reflection of your own mentality.

Do you wait in line for the shitty milk, or do you kill everyone and steal the milk? Do you wait in line for Gary Coleman's signature, or do you kill him and steal the book?

By banning it, ironically, it's admitting the fault is within ourselves.

There's a lot worse stuff out there now, anyway.

"I'm glad that PeeTER [sic] Jackson can hack and slash up orcs, elves and pseudo-humans in Lord of the Rings, but a videogame like Postal, that lets you piss on yourself, is somehow evil,"

If you agree with the message behind this, and want to help protest against the ongoing insanity of digital censorship and moral policing, then please sign and share this petition if you haven't already:

Also, well done to the person who reported this post - you have ironically only helped prove the point being made here…

That's a petition to stop payment processors interfering and pushing censorship on us. This game was banned by the government in NZ, don't like it? Write to your mp. It has nothing to do with visa

You missed what the bundle is named, the bundle wasn't created due to Postal 2 being banned legally anywhere.

        "Freedom to Buy Games Bundle"

      • The ongoing censorship saga linked to this petition is what directly lead to GOG creating this bundle as a protest - this is a much larger issue than Postal 2 being banned in NZ… Although I would personally protest the banning of that, or any game for that matter (I'm sure anyone who wanted to play the game got it via other means anyway).

Note that the petition isn't just about payment processors censoring adult games… It's also about taking a stand against the wider digital censorship being increasingly pushed by corporations and governments worldwide (e.g. UK Online Safety Act, which also came into force recently). Of course these measures always come under the guise of protecting children and/or women - but as I hope is becoming increasingly obvious to people after COVID, this is just yet another tactic to exert control / suppress free speech, and bring us one step closer to the elitist dream of a "1984" society. And of course in many cases, the very same people pushing for this censorship of adult media will be the ones involved with the real-life sex trafficking of women and/or children.

Censorship/prohibition is never the hallmark of a free and happy society - the harder you try to suppress something, the harder it will eventually backfire. Especially when we're talking about the internet.

That's my rant over for the evening :)
