The 1985 Daily Deals feel as dry and dusty as the middle of the Aussie Outback. Cornflakes, Weet-Bix, Gingernuts, Superwine, Paper towels….whats next? or is the only way up from here?
Heaven forbid they loose 0.0005% (arbitrary and inflammatory random percentage) of their annual profits and sell - for a day - something as topical/exciting as butter for 1985 prices - now that would make a headline in todays climate :D

The potatoes were pretty good, I didn't know there was a promotion and wandered in to get cat food and milk and came out with a bunch of stuff (and regretted not getting a little trolley).

    • we are getting to see what New Zealanders existed on back in 1985.

  • +6

When are they doing fuel or eggs like 1985?

  • Worth a mention.

Rolling Meadow Grated Cheddar Cheese 500g $3.99.

    Gemini AI Overview

American cheese is typically orange due to the addition of annatto, a natural food coloring derived from the seeds of the achiote tree. This coloring is used to give the cheese a consistent and appealing color, as the natural color of cheese can vary depending on the cow's diet. While some cheeses get their orange hue from the cows' diet, American cheese is colored with annatto to maintain a uniform appearance.

    • Yeah I bought a couple of these, great price.

Although lol on "a natural food colouring". AKA "it is orange because it has food colouring in it"

Red food colouring is natural and made from the crushed bodies of beetles:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochineal

Amanita (those red mushrooms with white spots) and Oleander (a common garden plant in NZ) will both lay you dead with a modicum of consumption and they're as natural as you get.

      • amanita muscaria arent that deadly.

What i don't like in that cheese is the cellulose, people aren't supposed to eat wood

        • But it's "natural", that means healthy, right?

        • What i don't like in that cheese is the cellulose, people aren't supposed to eat wood

Where is the cellulose in the cheese? I can't see it listed in the ingredients, but perhaps you are saying it is part of one of the other ingredients?

          • @Alan6984: Anticaking Agent (460)

            Gemini AI Overview

E460, also known as cellulose, is a common anti-caking agent used in food production. It's a natural substance that helps prevent powdered or grated foods from clumping together. It can be found in various forms, such as microcrystalline cellulose (E 460(i)) and powdered cellulose (E 460(ii)).
