  • Was this product ever sold at $1199 or is that an imaginary discount as we've seen from your store in other posts?

Earlier model than the one listed at Harvey Norman so sounds about right

      • I just mean that there's been other posts from this store where it turned out they had never actually sold the item at the supposed "original price".

pretty decent specs good price point for a cheap device for university student similar performance to m1 apple but less efficiency as this is 10 mn chip

    • 1255U is a pretty weak CPU. Passmark has it as 13.2% slower single core, and 6.5% slower multicore than a M1.

Pretty sure it is what I had in my previous work laptop.

That said, even shopping used, it is pretty hard to get a more modern CPU for this price.

For a Uni student, I would advise spending an extra $300 - 450 to get something more modern. Top one has a 14th gen (core ultra 125H) 7nm processor which will be is both passably grungy, and fairly efficient. Latter two have 13th gen cpu's, but 32GB of ram.

      • this are lot more expensive mate, i still feel this deal which is posted is good one as its refurbished and decent 12 th gen intel
i use old thinkpads ( still hard to beat on value ) with linux on it as desktop multi display, server ( thinkcenter ) and tv media ( mix of different 1 liter pcs ) computers all running linux mint i got most of them around 70 to 200 nzd mark 6 th gen 7 th gen 8 th gen intel cpu , for portable device i am using M1 mac books i got them for around 700 nzd 2nd had with on going warranty near new , but mac can not run many games and many apps is exclusive for Microsoft for battery life you just cant beat apple silicon , i use benchmarks and it showed higher for 1255U then m1 but m1 is super efficient so exellent battery life etc ,
I set up my old thinkpad as home use laptop for my 8 year old i think cant beat it on value and durability

        • To be fair, I am typing this on my Dell M4700 with a intel 3840QM, so perhaps it is unfair for me to rip on 12th gen CPU's.

(I do have 32gb of ram, a dedicated graphics card, which these don't have)

Also every now and then I hit a task which my laptop simply can't handle and need to swap across to my modern work laptop.

And to be fair, the 1255U on the laptop the issued me when I started my current job did run autocad, as long as I kept things simple, and was OK with the CPU sitting constantly at it's thermal limit.
