  • Anyone know if the new Xbox usb-c cables still have the charging LED in the plug?

    • +1

Not seen any light in the plug. That light in the micro USB one made it not work with so many other things that I guess they didnt want to abuse the extra pins for that on USB-C ones.

  • Out of interest, has anyone had ongoing problems with xbox series x wireless remotes dropping connection?

I've has two and same thing happens on each, have reset and updated etc but keeps occuring.
Almost considering a long usb C cable to avoid it.

    • This is usually caused by wireless interruption of a nearby device or microwave. If nothing is nearby then adjust the wireless frequency on your WiFi router as a means of troubleshooting, or switch to 2.4Ghz.

      • Yeah it’s frustrating given the access point is unobstructed say just 5m away across the room.

Not sure I can change the frequency on just one device in there, especially if that device is asking to connect at a higher frequency.

Xbox console/controller prices are going up next month in NZ.

    • +2

Again? They just did at he start of may

      • It might be the same one, but wholesale prices for xbox go up on the 1st of next month. RRPs are +$50 for consoles, +$5/$10 for controllers depending on colour.

There's also a promotion for xbox next week to the end of this month, so you might be able to get controllers for similar prices to this deal from NZ retailers.

    • Was surprised to see today that Xbox series X 1TB at Costco are nz$879.99. Didn’t realize they were so much. The PS5 slim 1TB next to it was on sale at nz$764.99

      • Playstation have just started their midyear sale. Xbox will have one starting next week.

      • If you dont mind signing up for credit, check out the noel leeming / purple visa deal. $300 off (minus fees) an xbox one X

  • Speaking of Game pass, are there any discounts/sales anywhere? I just got back in and noticed a big price rise.

Anyone know if stick drift is a constant issue with these controllers? I have 2 controllers which I have been using for 2-3 years and have started to show signs of stick drift. Is this common for these controllers at this age? Is there a possible fix that I could do which would be free or cheaper than buying new so I could salvage my old controllers or you reckon buying a new one is the only way to go?

    • +1

There are disks that reside around the joystick modules inside the controller that wear out after use and this is causing the stick drift. They require replacing. I would recommend you look up a Youtube guide on this. Easy fix but you may need to use some elbow grease to open up the controllers as they tend to be quite solidly built

      • I see. I've opened one twice now so I should be able to do it again but the only thing that I did was clean up the thin metal things underneath the stick which works for a few days but then goes back to drifting after that.

Do you know what do you call the part that needs replacing and how much do they cost roughly? Also, where do you buy replacements? Aliexpress?

        • Yes, that is the part that I have success so far with. I was able to replace the discs from a cheaper controller without any soldering. Keyword for a 3rd party trading website perhaps '3D Analog Stick Joystick Replacement Part For Xbox Series X Gamepad Controller'? Good luck
