Comment in that thread from justsomeguynz:
"I picked up the mower today.. I wasn't expecting miracles here but seriously thinking of trying to get my money back. Would not advise unless you have a very small, very flat section and are prepared to mow it very regularly.."

I have a flat small bit of grass so maybe it will be ok. the above puts me off though..

How did you get on @JustSomeGuyNZ

      • I've got a bigger model Ozito cordless mower that mulches, and its been great.
I'm pretty rough with it when I mow my uneven ground, and had no issues whatsoever.
I spent months researching and reading 100s of reviews of different brands beforehand btw.
I think you'll be fine with that for a small flat lawn. Good luck.

I've had one of the 18V Ozito mowers in the past, utter arse, took me hours to mow my lawns on a high setting (pretty much had to use it every week in the Summer) and added unnecessary wear to my batteries. I also had to regularly sharpen the blade. I was glad when I sold it. They don't report the wattage of the motor, but lets say it's drawing 10C (high) from a 4Ah battery and it couldn't be any more than 720W.

Swapped out for a corded 2400W mower I got on TradeMe for $50 and it cut my mow time down to less than a quarter. The blade is much wider, the motor has endless power, and I could run the blades blunt on a low setting and the lawn still wouldn't stand a chance.

Now have a corded Flymo (also $50 on TradeMe) and it's even less since the movements I can make aren't rigid straight lines.

The 36V ones are probably fine, potentially 1440W on dual 18V batteries if it drew 10C. I love my 36V Ozito chainsaw, it's not as good as my 2400W corded one, and has a smaller bar, but when I need the convenience it's a life saver.

If you can get away with it, you can't go wrong with corded power tools, tonnes more power, no time limit and they're usually a lot cheaper.

    • Did you get the exact same model i need a lawn mower for my partner who finds it harder to use a powerful a d heavy petrol one we just want a move to move outside pathway lawn

It's hard to say but the calculations would apply to any 18V device with a 4Ah battery (max 720W at 10C). So the model shouldn't matter much. Additionally they work with the 2.5Ah batteries, so it might be even less than that, 10C on a 2.5Ah battery is 450W.

The size of the motor is limited to the batteries that can be used.

The main difference is that all of the other devices (such as drills, hedge trimmers, the chain sharpener, I have MANY Ozito battery tools) apply torque to a much smaller component, such as the drill piece, or the reciprocating blade so the output is quite focused.

The mowers have to spin a massive chunk of metal and suffer. Less than 1000W just isn't enough.

Even the cheapest corded mowers they sell are >1000W, I'd probably suggest one of these which also has the added benefit of saying it's 2KG lighter than the one in the deal (8.07KG corded vs 10.5KG battery):

Although I'd recommend get as high a wattage in electric as possible, more power = easier life. You can get the job done quicker, and there is less chances of hassles.

If weight is primary, and you really can't use a corded mower for whatever reason, you could also look at those electric reel motors, but you'll have to mow more often.

Very light but they absolutely cannot handle longer grass.

        • Thank you will wait for any other brand or this one with 36v to be on sale
