ShopBack Temu Missing Cashback Disputes

What is happening with ShopBack and their tracking for Temu? On 25th April I placed 6 orders with Temu via Shopback to take advantage of Temu's 70% cashback promo.

The very first order tracked yet none of the others did. Fine, I'll log a missing cashback claim with ShopBack which I did on 1st May including full screenshots of the invoices as required by ShopBack. Today, 12th May, I happen to check the ShopBack app and saw all 5 missing cashback claims, $194, as completed.

Woohoo, or so I thought, until I actually clicked on the Case Completed notification in the app to see that all 5 claims were "Cashback rejected - We've completed this request and didn't find any missing Cashback" all at exactly 4am on 9th May. I've received no email notification about these rejections just what looks like an automated rejection.

Now someone will say "you must have clicked another link" etc etc however the process I followed was identical for every order. I opened a fresh Windows 11 Sandbox PC then opened Edge, logged into ShopBack, clicked the Temu link, logged into Temu, added the items to my basket and paid for the order - the same process 6 times in a row yet only the very first one has been tracked. No ad blockers, no other browsers or even applications open in the Sandbox PC yet only the first Temu order tracked.

I've tried to dispute the rejection in the ShopBack app however it again asks for all the same details as the original missing Cashback process and then hangs when uploading the copy invoices.

Honestly I'm really disappointed with the whole process and feel as though I've been misled by ShopBack. I've followed their instructions to the letter as far as I can tell and they haven't stuck to their end of the agreement. Hopefully their rep @gotyourback sees this post and can provide the help promised to other users.

  • For the most part shopback is painfree but the Temu tracking is a total nightmare, to the point where I question why Temu cashback is allowed to be posted here on a regular basis as so many users have negative experiences with it.

It's not good enough to promise such cashback claims with a vendor that will do anything they can to deny them.

If you goods are unopened I would return them via Temu's return policy which is pretty generous, if used they will typically refund only a portion back. They also cover free shipping for the first refund from every order(you can return multiple things from that order in your first return).

    • Thanks @Dunno. Surprisingly most of the items purchased were things we actually wanted and had specifically been waiting for a 70% cashback offer before ordering. Many have already been used and/or worn.

I'm tempted to reorder the higher value items and once they arrive return them on the orders that ShopBack have rejected so at least I'm getting some cashback rather than the $0 I'm being offered by ShopBack.

Yes, I agree that I'm not sure why they're allowed to post these generous cashbacks for Temu on Cheapies when so many people have so many issues with claiming. Hopefully the ShopBack rep will be able to help????

  • Have you tried disabling the default tracker protection in Edge? Not sure if this is the issue, just a suggestion :)

I've personally had good success using the mobile app.

    • +2

Thanks for the suggestion @trisanh although I suspect if that was the case none of the orders would have tracked rather than just the first. I would love to use the mobile app however I find it almost impossible to navigate Temu on a phone; there's so much going on in their app it's almost headache inducing. At least on a big PC screen I find it easier to spot what I'm after.

      • Yeah, was thinking the same. I've just accepted the fact it'll never work properly on a PC 😔

Even though their conditions advise against it, I've had success populating my cart on the web then just checking out through the app, YMMV though.

  • Temu never tracks properly and Shopback know it. Theres a problem somewhere, either Temu or SB website, each like to blame each other.

  • Don't forget that a lot of the time Temu cashbacks are for FIRST PURCHASE ONLY. Especially the larger ones like 70% Return customers don't get that.
So you purchased 6 items? It's possible that only the first will have tracked because that's your first purchase. The others don't count………..

    • Yes, I agree that is often the case for these high %age cashback offers however for this promotion the ShopBack rep specifically said the following in the thread when asked by other users:

Yep, the 70% Cashback (capped at $40) applies to all users, including existing ones 🎉and yes, Anjboy — you're totally right! You can place multiple orders, and each one will be eligible for Cashback, just keep in mind it's capped at $40 per transaction.

I wouldn't have risked $194 of cashback without this reassurance by ShopBack.

Hopefully @gotyourback will reply to this thread shortly and offer a resolution…..

    • When you say first purchase do you mean first item in cart or first transaction

  • The annoying thing is, you put in a cash back request and they simply delete it and give you a generic answer.

I am going to the commerce commission as shopback has acknowledged multiple times they are aware with temu issue but they continue to advertise it leading to sale under false pretenses, I'm not 100% sure what we can get them on yet but I'm not happy, its damaging their brand and I'm also wanting to make a class action suit, I have reached out to some legal representation. If you would be interested in joining we will need to have proof you have already tried to request missing cash back, plus all the details of the cash back.

    Are you interested

  • Shopback has been terrible recently. They have rejected nearly all of my disputes despite the click being tracked and providing them with reciepts, and my ability to dispute these is disabled. I'm waiting to hear back from them on my enquiry about this but most likely I will be reporting them to consumer protection

    • I'm having the same experience. Did they ever get back to you?
