  • It's only for new customers :-(

    • Do they have any restrictions on it other than people who want to keep their number from not being able to?

  • For 'home' broadband I use skinny jump. 5bux for 35 gigs, 1st 35 gigs is free. I know someone who has the modem plugged into their car so they have fast broadband where ever 4g is available

    • Bear in mind Skinny may cancel your service if it's used at a different address from where it's supposed to be at.

Also Skinny Jump is only available to people who have trouble affording broadband internet such as beneficiaries.

      • Im aware of that because i signed up for it but theres more criteria than that even just having children makes you eligible but they didn't even ask me any questions anyway, I don't even think skinny wants the modem back. Its been over a year and my friend still takes his modem for road trips.

  • Can I cancel after 1 month?

    • +1

      Yes.
It’s a monthly plan so just make sure auto renew is disabled.

  • Anybody selling a small/medium/large plan?
Someone offered me an extra large but it’s a bit too much for me.

  • Anyone else having trouble receiving Kogan SIMs? My mate bought a $5 starter pack from Dick Smith but the SIM never arrived. The code did and they had some unused SIMs so used that. Never bothered to complain. Then nearly 2 months ago, ordered 2 more starter packs but SIMs also never arrived. Again codes did and could use with some old SIMs but can't rely on that since going to run out eventually. Mate hasn't had much other problems with mail disappearing. Has bought some starter packs about 2 years ago without problems with the SIMs arriving. These 3 are the first since those 2 years from Kogan.

    • Mine have all arrived but as they use a tiny envelope the ones to home just got left in the mailbox.

      • Mate says they used to use DLE, but yeah just arrived in the mailbox as ordinary mail.

Mate worked it out, probably. A long time ago, Dick Smith moved to automatically adding SIMs to cart when you buy starter (and think other) packs. Before that you just needed the pack. (There was a time when this changed and they did not send out SIMs to some orders.)

When bought it the two different times this year, the SIM was not automatically added. They checked saves of the 2025 orders confirming no SIM was added, which also means it didn't ask about shipping in cart. (Does say free shipping later in final checkout stage and have a delivery address.) SIM also does not show up in invoice etc of course and no dispatch info either. Probably could have manually added it and Dick Smith/Kogan probably send SIMs if they complain.

But decided better not to invite too much inspection of their account, so just ordered again. This time it did automatically add SIMs so fingers crossed will arrive this time.

My mate did notice since they started ordering again that intentionally or accidentally, Dick Smith seems to have removed the limitation of only being able to order one starter pack per order, not that it makes much difference.

  • I feel like the $5 starter pack is a good alternative to this deal, for an extra $4 you get 15GB instead of 1.5GB. Just make sure you disable auto renewal and then switch to the small 1.5GB plan from the 2nd month onwards.
