Air Asia has recommenced their Gold Coast <-> Auckland Flights. As a promo, they are offering fares to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for $514.72 with a short stopover in Gold Coast, Australia. Also of note is that they are offering flights to the Gold Coast for $236 Return.
The promo flights should be available from March 22 2016 until February 5, 2017.

However, to save $25 you can book a one way flight from Auckland to Gold Coast for $99 NZD and then a one way flight from Gold Coast to Auckland for ~$134 NZD (total $236). It may not be worth it depending on your credit cards currency conversion rate + fees.
You are probably better off waiting for a Jetstar sale for Gold Coast. Or if you feel adventurous just book the $99 one way to Gold Coast and wait for a deal for the way back.
For anyone going through to other parts of Asia, if you don't mind two stops via OOL and KUL this makes fares to other countries cheaper too. Eg i can see Kansai Osaka for $1000 return in april (23rd to 27th as example dates). Not amazing but better than your usual prices. Other destinations throughout asia may be cheap too.
