Wouldnt recommend buying this if you're printing on the regular. If you are printing 5 pages a month then this is great but anything more, invest in something better as issue with cheap printers is the INK Cost.

Generally the more expensive the printer the cheaper the ink gets, wont always be the case so double check the approx yield an ink cartridges gives. This can be between 150 pages to 10,000 pages.

Cheapest is the epson eco tank printers (from around $250), the bottle of ink costs around $20 each but can print 4,500 pages in black or 7500 pages in colour

Also, if you're scanning multiple pages then you would want to pay extra on a built in ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) scanner. Place a pile of pages to scan instead of scanning 1 by 1

    • That sounds great. Do you have a recommendation on a model? My wife is studying and prints a lot of black and white, inkjet refills get expensive.

I bought the HP Smark Tank 7005 about 12 months ago, it was for home use and I printed 2500 pages. There's still half a tank of black ink left and over 70% for the rest of the colour. The ink refill is ~$25 per colour.

The price at Harvey Norman at the moment is roughly the same as what I paid https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/index.php?subcats=Y&status=A&…

      • If you wife isnt scan in bulk then i would go with the HP 7005 suggested by @eug.

If bulk scanning happens on a regular then go for the HP 7305

      • If you don't need colour, i'd go for a mono laser printer. If you need scanning, get a multifunction. I tend to have had Brother printers in the past. My current printer has a genuine black toner and aliexpress colour toners, works fine. Colour isn't as good as OEM toner, but for 1/4 the price, i'm not complaining.

Agree, bought an Eco tank on sale 2 years ago for $120 and the bottle of black ink it came with is still going strong. I print things daily, the paper is more expensive than the ink! In comparison, I was previously spending $30 a month on black ink cartridges with my standard ink jet printer.

    • @Danz91 I have been looking at the Ecotank as well. Curious what model you purchased?

  • Previous post for this printer

  • So worth it for the odd shipping lable print and as a scanner? Thats all I need really.
Literally used a free one off Facebook for use as a scanner but it seems to not let me do anything because the ink is finished, can't even scan. I'm not replacing ink as the print heads are shoddy.

what happens if you drill a whole and fill the ink cartridge with water?

      • I like the cheapies attitude!
Don't even have a drill to try!

lol gotta find hacks to beat the shitty company practices

          🏴‍☠️

        • Did it work?

    • Yep perfect i print maybe 2 sheets a month. Its solid and a bargain for the money. Most at this price point don't have wireless, scanning etc!

  • Warehouse will price match if they are closer to C&C

    • They wouldn’t for me when it was $28. Said it was clearance and refused.

      • They were ok at $39

        • Their price was something around $200 and I don’t think they wanted to go down to 28. Was surprised they wouldn’t do it to be fair.

  • Last month, i got this for 28 from click and collect

    • From Harvey Norman?

      • Yes

I have this printer - its a pain in the balls. My experience is clearly different to the poster.

Connectivity shaky, sometimes it works, others it doesnt. - totally incompatible with my Google Nest network - lots of posts on this - rips through the ink which is expensive and whenever your out of any colour of ink it disables all the features even scanning which would have no effect.

Has an additional consumable, some sort of ink overflow tank which is full for me even thou hardly printed anything - which will shut down all the functions - basically just a scam (although there are some youtube vids on how to by pass it)

    No USB printing etc

Makes you regret not buying a laser printer or one just a little better soon enough.

Might be ok if you want to print only very sparingly or just scan etc and you can get it for very cheap/free

    • To be honest, it sounds like more of an issue with the Google Nest system with the connectivity issues you are having. They have always been a pain in the ass with tons of issues just like the older gen Orbi's (latest gen Orbi's are great).
