I'm torn on this. If it's only going to be usable on the S25 it's probably not much use to me unless there's another decent trade-in boost to go with it. However, if you can use it in the S24 range AND there's a trade-in boost it could make for an awesome deal.

      • The lack of detail on this deal makes this a bad deal.

  • -1

It said in the T&C "or $20 off a selected Galaxy S or Z series device"

So suspect it can be used on S24 but only worth $20 discount. Which I interpret as you paid $20 for $40 off for S24 instead of $100 off S25

Still a gamble on whether there is a good trade in deal between now and 14 Feb

    • +1

I read that as $20 off a select Galaxy S or Z device.

I.e on Unpacked items its work $100, on others its worth the original $20

      • Thanks for claifying

  • Not a fan of pre-ordering regardless of incentives. Samsung usually does deep discounts a couple of months down the road 1 months voucher expiry is too short.

    • The pre order discounts are quite often better than any other sale they have

      • including trade in?

        • Yes if the pre order offer includes trade in

          • @kfr23: hmm, they usually have massive trade in boost, not sure if they would do that with a brand new model.

    • Yes, so I think sales and marketing has come under new management because they've tightened up quite a bit on there discount codes especially the stack restrictions. Also, at the moment there are no members benefits showing on the app, but that could change.

  • Beware Sammy does call the number you use trying to sell you sh*t. I registered yesterday and they've already tried to call me. They will keep trying at least 5 times before thry give up based my experience so I recommend blocking the number, haha.

    • You did not need to provide your phone number

    • I wouldn't block their phone calls. They give out discount codes pre-release. I've had plenty of $100, $50 and 10% codes handed out over the years and even a couple of 25% codes.

      • I can get them via online chat so Im not fussed.

This deal of paying $20 upfront for a discount on "selected S and Z devices" sounds very scammy coming from a Samsung fan here.

    • +1

Totally agree, hope this doesnt become some standard.

  • +2

Agree with Discount Code. Paying money to get an average discount is just not it.

  • Not just about the discount offered but the lack of clarity for what you can buy exactly for it. Surely this must be beaching some of fair trading act?

Seems like their legal team is either incompetent or using ChatGPT too much, lol.

    • The $100 voucher will be for the new S25 series, the $20 value for other phones will most likely be for anything else

  • I always review all the bundle deals from all sellers and pick the bedt one for me. Last time was Spark with a free Xbox among other things but have gone with Samsung previously too.

If I dont know what the bundles will be then I dont know if I'd buy eith Samsung and this $20 deal is non-refundable..

  • The free evoucher you get is worth $150 between 7am, 23 Jan 2025 and 9:59am, 27 Jan 2025, OR $100 if used between 10am, 27 Jan 2025 and 9am, 14 Feb 2025.

Plus there is an additional $100 off evoucher that costs $20 that can be stacked with the first one.

    • I think the big thing is if they're going to give ridiculous trade in incentives because without them, the vouchers are meaningless.

      • Not everyone has an eligible phone and is willing to get one of trademe just for sending it in. So 230 $ off (plus possibly app code?) is better than nothing.

        • My point is that you will be paying full retail minus a voucher so the phone will probably be around $1500 for a S25 within three months the same phone they will discount to around $1000 with flash Sales. I can't see any significant discounts at the moment on pre-launch to make it worth buying one at the moment, but it might change with the members app offering further discounts.

  • I posted this in the forum yesterday, seems like a no brainer. $150 code for free, and then spend $20 to get either a $100 voucher for S25 line, or just use the $20 on the S24 next time it has a sale. I've practically made money upgrading phones over the last few generations via Samsung, so I'm willing to throw them $20 in hopes that everything will stack up to a killer discount on the S25.

    • @limepanda can you give me an example how you made money upgrading ? I'm looking for pointers , looking to get the s25U for my s24U

      • It's slightly different every time, but the general idea is to utilise a combination of code stacking and trade in boosts. Sometimes pre-order is the best deal, sometimes you have to wait a little while. I buy a broken old phone eligible for trade in, usually something with cracked screen etc for around $30. Then often get $4-600 trade in credit for it, then also do maximum code stacking which usually gets a hefty discount off the phone, and then I sell my previous Galaxy on Trademe or Marketplace. Sometimes you get a bonus like a free Watch etc which you can sell to offset the cost of the phone.

The most recent sale was just prior to Christmas where all discounts brought the S24 down to approx $350. Obviously the previous S23 can be sold second hand for more than that.

I've repeated it for a number of years now and it's either cost me nothing or I've made money to upgrade each time.

        • Not sure how you got $350 in the most recent flash sale with discounts and trade in boost? I paid $598.75 for mine.

          • @kfr23: S24 5G 256GB
            RRP $1,649.00
            Sale Price $1,319.20
            10% Members discount -$131.92
            UPGRADES24 code -$250.00
            10% First App Purchase -$106.92
            Trade In -$500.00
            Total $330.36

            • @limepanda: I think you're thinking of any older flash sale. The most recent one which AFAIK is the one a few days before Christmas and I did check emails to make sure I didn't miss any didn't let you use UPGRADES24. At least no one else in that long thread could that I saw nor could I and that was from its beginning. Also I'm fairly sure your calculations don't tally with how Samsung now applies the discounts nowadays

              • @Nil Einne: Yes, you're right. All the codes were withdrawn and quite a few of the $50 vouchers didn't work and the 10% vouches only worked on residual balance not total price like they used to. I think there's been a change in management and they are tightening up on vouchers and codes so I don't think this release will be as good as Last year and especially the year before when they just about gave away the phones if you had the right vouchers and codes where you could stack them all.

  • Also @deadfish in the title you say the evoucher is only for accessories but the terms reference items revealed at the unpacked event which surely include the S25 phones themselves?

  • Does the voucher work on the EPP store?

  • How legal is this? Its more like gambling than a voucher. Spend 20 to get 100 voucher …… on something you dont know the price or specs of, and the voucher expires in a few weeks.

    • +1

It's a 20 $ Samsung voucher with an extra 80 $ discount for the S25 range. So you buy a giftcard in some sense and get a discount code for free. The T&Cs are all over the place and they put little love into the NZ website, but the offer is still fair I feel. Imagine apple would offer the same, that would go through the roof without complaints. I feel Samsung is cutting its own flesh with all the discounting. But good for the consumer I guess.

  • I guess for a pre-order it's not a bad offer but compared to the deals we were getting for S24 series it's pretty crap, trading in my mint S24 to buy a S25 with the two discount codes ($150 event registration and 10% members) plus the store offer discount brings the price down to $650. For comparison I paid $700 for my S24 trading in a broken phone.

The $20 for $100 is a scam, it doesn't stack with the members app 10% code. The members code takes $239.90 off so it's better to use this instead.

      • Not sure how it's a scam if they never said you could stack it?

        • +1

What am I paying $20 for then? the 10% members code is available to all Samsung users, who in their right mind would choose to pay for a $100 discount over a free $239.90 discount?

Edit: Let me rephrase that, the $20 for $100 code is a scam for Samsung users.

          • @Danz91: For the $100 code? If the code still works, it's not a scam in my opinion. I of course agree with you, it's terrible, but I'm just not sure it's technically a scam.

            • @kfr23: I get what you're saying, but It only works on the S25….In my eyes, Samsung has duped me into paying them $20 for a useless code which I cannot use because it gives me an inferior discount. The free $150 registration bonus stacks with 10% code so I just don't get why they would do this. I'm pretty sure the definition of a scam is 'deceptive' and fraudulent behaviour.

              • +1

@Danz91: Absolutely right the discount was aimed at members, and we were hammered with spam, and there was no mention that you could not stack the code. I certainly won't be buying a phone this time round. Certainly won't be spending $1200 to buy the same phone.

  • Managed to get the price down to around $1800 for the 512gb ultra (RRP $2649) but the $20 for $100 voucher is completely useless - it doesn't stack with the members app 10% code which is a better discount (and free)

    • +1

Do you have access to the EPP store? Not sure if codes stack, but phone seems a lot cheaper. Also has a trade in bonus.

      • With 24 Ultra trade in and a few codes $214 if i wanted to upgrade , going to wait for next fold though

        • Did you manage to stack that many codes without the EPP store?

          • @Zebra499: Nah this is EPP store

            • @pmatnzzz: What did you stack the lowest i got so far fo s24ultra 256gb tradein for s25ultra 512gb
(don't have new user 10% for epp)

              Preorder - $150.00
              Order Summary
              Base Price $1,559.00
              Total Saving
              Trade In - $1,090.00
              Voucher discounts - $150.00
              Other discounts- $762.25
              Total $646.75

        • +1

          Hey mate
Keen to hear what other codes you used apart from $150 pre order sign up code on EPP store please

  • +1

@pmatnzzz Bummer, lowest I've managed is $868 with s24u trade, new account, members and preorder bonus. Doesn't stack with any other 10% codes or the waste of time $100 voucher I bought lol

    • For clarity you mean new app user with the extra 10%?

  • +2

There's something going on with their code stacking which means even codes they explicitly said will stack aren't. Maybe a few complaints will get them to look into it.

    • Samsung_Ruby in the Samsung Members app explicitly said that those two codes could stack which apparently it doesn't.

  • Code GALAXYS25 for tradein boost, charger and case.
Doesnt seem to stack with the members discount code though

  • +1

    EPP Store
    S25 1598
    Less 25% =$1198
    Less S24 trade in (640) = $558
    Less $100 trade in boost = $458
    Less $150 voucher = $308

Or at least that's what it should be
For some reason the total comes to $209.

A few of the other codes around don't seem to work on EPP. Any others that I'm missing or do I pull the trigger?

      • Yeah it was the one we got for pre registering

    • For some reason I get these:
      S25 1598
      Less S24 256Gb trade in (640)
      Less $100 trade in boost
      Less $150 voucher
      Less 10% first shop discount = $114.32

Too bad I dont actually have an S24 to trade in.

      • What store is that on?

        • Thats EPP store

          • @spam: if you aren't gonna use your $150 voucher feel free to share :D

  • +1

For those who purchased the $20 for $100 deal, did you receive your code straight away? Purchased it an hour ago and still waiting

    • Any updates?

  • anyone has the $150 code that they will not use. Could i have it please. Thanks

  • Anyone know if i could order 2 devices with 2 separate trade ins obviously for each?

  • Also keen for any spare $150 codes, thank you!

  • Anyone who bought the $20 for $100 code and isn't planning on using it, I will gladly buy it from you as I finally decided to go ahead with buying a new phone. Thank you :)

  • Hey I'll pay $35 for a $100 code as well if anyone doesn't need theirs anymore?

  • I have 2 x Samsung Member codes (10% off) for sale at $20 each.
As per above, it does not stack with GALAXYS25, so its good if you dont have a device to trade in.
Also does not stack with the $20/$100 off. But if you didnt buy this, the Member code goves 10% off, which works out better than the $20/100 off.

  • Keen to buy a $20 for $100 code, thanks.
