Start time and date 2:00pm on 19 th December 2024
End time and date 2:00pm on 22 nd December 2024

Given the past popularity, this is the current deal similar to the ones they had in the past.

Looking at the T&C:
ZFold 6 = $600 boost
ZFlip 6 =$500 boost + Flipsuit case
S24 = $500 boost + Flipsuit case? Suspected this is typo
S24+ = $500 boost + Screen protector
S24 Ultra = $600 boost + Screen protector
S24 FE = $400 boost + Smart wallet case

    • Try it anyway. I think the $500 minimum is before discounts. I was able to reduce a $450 total to $400 using the $50 code from chat, which had the same "$500 minimum spend" as the survey code.

The survey code will not stack with the 10% members code, regardless of minimum spend

  • As expected, there's going to be another boxing day/new year sale.

Saw an ad about this that says ends 11am 7 January 2025. Cannot find any details though.

    • 15% off + 200-300 trade-in bonus. Hardly a sale I would say.. :-(

      • Agreed. If anything we learnt from Aug till now, it's the Flash Sale that seemed to be worth purchasing from rather than their usual sale.

        • Stock seems to have quickly recovered though. The 256GB Ultra has 3 colours, 256GB + and non plus has 1 colour. (FE 128GB now has 3 colours but it was in stock until the end of the sale in mint.) This seems to happen a lot but given their webstore's general incompetence I sort of think it's more of a case of that rather than intentionally limiting how much they sell during the flash sales.

        • Also the Education EPP store isn't too bad IMO. Since you can use UPGRADES24 at least at the moment prices only end up about $30-70 more than during the most recent flash sale for S24 and S24 Ultra. So if you missed the boat could consider it. (You also don't get the bonus but frankly I wouldn't count the screen protector as worth much.) You can can also use LYZ like you could during the recent flash sale. Of course prices are still a far cry from the hey day, but well it's unclear if we'll be getting those again. Note since UPGRADES24 still doesn't apply to the FE, it's one thing where education EPP is still crap.

Note for clarity this is with 10% first use of EPP and UPGRADES24. I'm comparing with prices published by stiflz previously. (I'm still unwilling to provide exact prices for EPP given Samsung's warnings even if they don't enforce it and even this comment is probably technically in violation of their limits.) I also recommend getting an LYZ from chat.

Also I was never able to get a 5% code for EPP that some people have received so can't try it.

          • @Nil Einne: For further clarity, on the EPP store New Year sale:

With UPGRADES24 and a zero base value tradein, the S24 256GB ends up as the worst of the (non FE) S24 series compared to the recent flash sale. The S24 Ultra 256GB isn't as bad but is still slightly more than the recent flash sale. The S24+ 256GB is actually very slightly better than the recent flash sale! None of these have 512GB (nor 1TB for Ultra) in stock when I was checking.

All of these are comparing to stiflz prices. And remember you can use the LYZ just like you could with the recent flash sale. (The S24 is still a bit worse with LYZ compared to not using LYZ on the recent flash sale, but the Ultra is better with LYZ compared to not using LYZ on the recent flash sale.)

Both S24 FE are terrible since there's no UPGRADES24.

Although there is UPGRADEZ, The Z Flip6 256GB and Z Fold6 256GB + Z Fold6 512GB (no stock of higher storage) do end up fairly worse compared to the recent flash sale since the total tradein bonus is a fair amount less. You stack SNN with UPGRADEZ which means you can also stack SNN+LYZ+UPGRADEZ, however it still ends up fair amount worse than the recent flash sale (especially considering you could also use LYZ there I assume).

            • @Nil Einne: Actually I forgot that the Fold and Flip are both only 25% discount at the EPP New Year sale, while the S24 series are all 30% which is probably a bigger reason why they come out closer to the flash sale than the tradein bonus differences.

              • @Nil Einne: For the EPP education. I managed to get a VNN code. I can confirm it's like SNN and so stackable with UPGRADEZ but not UPGRADES24. Because of the 3 code limit, you can only do UPGRADEZ+VNN+LYZ/SNN. Prices still aren't that great but are getting closer to the flash sale I guess.

I also checked the prices in the main store sale with a $0 base value tradein.

Using the combo 10% welcome + tradein + UPGRADES24/UPGRADEZ + 10% CODE (YQZ but any) these are the prices. Note you can get an additional $45 off via the LYZ code but you also could in the flash sale so felt these prices were best to compare to Stiflz. (Supposed to be $50 but comes as $45 I think because of the welcome.) The S24+ is fairly close to the flash sale but the others aren't so good.

                • Galaxy S24 256GB 8GB - $710.34
(Even comparing to the $665.34 it is fairly cheaper on education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + UPGRADES24 + LYZ + SNN)

                • Galaxy S24+ 256GB 12GB - $935.74
(As sort of implied above, even comparing to the $890.74 it is slightly cheaper on education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + UPGRADES24 + LYZ + SNN)

                • Galaxy S24 Ultra 256GB 12GB - $1,161.14
(Even comparing to the $1,116.14 it is fairly cheaper on education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + UPGRADES24 + LYZ + SNN)

                • Z Flip6 256GB Online Exclusive but does not make any difference at this time - $1,083.17
(Even comparing to the $1,038.17 it is fairly cheaper on education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + UPGRADEZ + VNN, LYZ or SNN)

                • Z Fold6 256GB - $1,546.74
(Taking the $1,501.74 this is fairly cheaper than the education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + UPGRADEZ + VNN + LYZ or SNN)

                • Z Fold6 512GB - $1,718.87
(Taking the $1,673.87 this is fairly cheaper than the education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + UPGRADES24 + VNN + LYZ or SNN)

Most of them aren't that great but the S24+ is actually quite similar to the recent flash sale and similar to the best education EPP deal I'm aware of. The other ones are more, at least $55 more than the flash sale. Still if you're planning to buy and have access to the education EPP, check carefully as some are better and some are worst with the best deals. (Education EPP is worse for both versions of the Z Fold6, but all the others are better on education EPP although not by much for the S24+.)

I also checked some of the vacuum cleaners. Note that the Elite isn't on special on the main store but is on special on the education EPP. Both deals below are with are with the combo of 10% welcome + tradein + XZN/XSB + $50 LYZ. You cannot stack XZN/XSB with SNN so there is still one coupon slot available but I don't know of anything to use with it. Note I did confirm you cannot stack XZN and XSB.

                • 210W Jet™95 Stick - HexaJet Motor Woody - $440.19
(Fairly similar to education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + SNN $50 or LYZ $50. Note you cannot add both SNN and LYZ since the price is too low for SNN I think, you could add something else probably. XZN and XSB do not seem to work on education EPP at the moment.)

                • 210W Bespoke Jet™ Plus Pet - All-in-one - $602.19
(Fairly similar to education EPP with 10% welcome + tradein + SNN $50 + LYZ $50. As above, XZN ad XSB do not work on education EPP.)

                • @Nil Einne: Note I forgot about VNN for the vacuum cleaner deals on education EPP. With VNN, the education EPP does end up a bit better than these. (And still without SNN+LYZ for the Jet 95, which I think you can do by adding something.)

  • Got an email saying my S24 FE, ordered just as the promo was ending, has shipped. My orders also says "on the way". But when I click on track item it says "We are preparing your order for shipment" and so there's no tracking number anywhere.

OTOH, I was wrong earlier about them including the IMEI. Was a bit surprised they had it so fast. But now they really do have the IMEI so assume it's at least been packaged etc.

    • +1

That's normal for Samsung. Sometimes you get the package delivered then suddenly the site gets updated and an email that it's been delivered. Other times you get a tracking number not long after it has shipped. The trade in is worse, you have the tracking number you know it's been delivered and a week later they update the portal and say they have received your phone or past inspection

      • Ah okay. I knew how bad their tradein/Assurant is and have heard a lot about how bad their store is in general, just didn't know they were so bad at even the basics like adding tracking numbers after shipping.

Do they normally use Courier Post to deliver items? Also guess at this price it's probably signature required? (T&C does say it is.) While I'm home most of the time but I sometimes don't hear the couriers so it can be a bit annoying having no idea when it's coming.

        • Yes, they use Courier post but I have a RD address so all my parcels are ATL . If they send you the tracking number, you might be able to change it to ATL but obviously if you have the tracking number, you'll know when it's going to be delivered roughly. I've had quite a few trades and purchases from Samsung and most the time you get the tracking number but occasionally you don't which is annoying especially if I've got a $2000 phone inside my mailbox, which is next to a main road.

          • @pdevonporf: Mine now has a tracking. Not sure when it was added but IIRC I checked at around 2000 and it still wasn't appearing but it shows up now.

You've probably encountered this yourself but it also shows pickup time as Dec 24 01:44 am. Time is obviously wrong since it isn't that time yet, looking at NZ Post seems actual pick up time was 1244. So guess they're interpreting NZ Post's time as UTC, and then converting it to NZ time for me.

            • @Nil Einne: And it arrived about midday today. Somewhat impressed they managed to get it to me before Christmas having ordered it on Sunday afternoon although to be fair, a big part of that is living in Auckland and Courier Post I guess. From your previous messages sounds like it's a bit random how quickly they ship it to you anyway.

Next have to see if Assurant messes up my tradein. At least it's zero base value so don't have to worry about them deciding condition is worse than I described I assume.

              • @Nil Einne: I'm on the same boat. Have took video of the phone working, showing the IMEI, photos of the phone on every angle, box, etc.
Even took photo of the box in NZ Post.

Hopefully all is going well otherwise will probably going to do chargeback via Amex since that seemed to be the easier way to get them to come to party.

              • @Nil Einne: How has your trade in gone?

                • @kfr23: Mine just completed.

Good news! We’ve received your device and inspected it. Your trade-in is complete

Luckily no mess around from Assurant

                  • @spam: Yeah, I think mine completed as well. I got an email about them adjusting the trade in value from $0 to $5, hopefully this doesn't impact the trade in bonus.

  • Anyone else had an order

    Trade-in discount reclaimed

Just got the email and they charged me $300. My trade in said it was successful

    • For clarity, is this something you bought previously and already sent in the tradein and they said it was successful and now they suddenly charged you?

Anyway whatever the specifics I'm fairly sure the answer is yes. Assurant are legendary for screwing up in pretty much every way imaginable. This sounds like the same issue https://www.cheapies.nz/comment/249437/redir . Probably this as well https://www.cheapies.nz/comment/248586/redir . You can probably find more reports on Reddit etc.

More commonly they never say it is successful even though you sent the item in, and even if they confirm they received it when you email them. And then they eventually just charge you everything for not sending the tradein despite themselves confirming they received it.

    • +1

I've had success with chargebacks through my credit card/bank when they're incorrectly charged me in the past, wasn't too much of an issue, an email, a phone call, sorted.

Now when trading in I use a Wise or Revolut card so that they aren't able to charge more than agreed, they are welcome to contact and discuss if extra payment is required, if they want to.

      • Can you share your method of doing chargebacks? Tell them the disputed transaction, show photos of evidence, etc. ? Just so that anyone can hopefully get the same solution for their situation

        • +2

Yea, pretty much give whatever information and evidence you have. Email screenshots (in particular of you trying to contact the vendor to resolve the issue), transactions, receipts, trade-in website/t&c, a screenshot of their portal showing its been completed if that's the case, tracking screenshot, detail that you sent the item traded in and they accepted it, then made unauthorised charges that are incorrect. The bank might ask for extra information to pass to the card company as part of the dispute, so you do have the chance to add additional info if needed.

    • was $300 the value of the item you traded in? or was 300 the item + trade in bonus?
