Considering Dick Smith's clearance sales, theres not a huge price change on some items.

eg the JVC TVs they have been discounting are a similar price/only slightly cheaper.

Is this deal the 70-300mm (more common) or the 55-250mm?

Based on the pricing and limited availability, im guessing the 70-300mm (which has worse optics), only other place that seems to have the 55-250 is harvey norman:

  I though the 55-250 twins lens kit is more popular? And I agree, 55-250 is is definitely the better of the two. I usually don't bother with 55-250 kit lens, just get a nice prime lens (1.4/1.8) and fast standard zoom lens (2.8), these two lens will be your most use unless you're willing to experiment with other speciality lens.
