Hisense 55" 120Hz ULED Mini-LED 4K Smart TV $998 + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

Key Features

Mini-LED
LED lights backlight a TV. A normal LED is the size of a shirt button. A Mini-LED is as tiny as a rice grain. This TV has Mini-LEDs, meaning it has loads more than a conventional TV. With thousands of lights arranged into hundreds of dimming zones, it creates super sharp contrasts and realistic colours. Who knew small could be so mighty?

ULED™
Hisense’s ULED technology combines 492 granted patents to create the most vivid and true-to-life viewing experience, boosting colour, contrast, brightness and motion.

144Hz Game Mode Pro
Level up your gaming with 144Hz Game Mode PRO, the most advanced gaming tech in one TV. The Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) minimise input lag, screen jitter, and frame tearing, making for buttery smooth gaming every time.

Hi-View Engine
The advanced Hi-View Engine processes the picture you see on your Hisense ULED TV. It works behind the scenes, continually adjusting settings like brightness and shadows to deliver the best possible picture quality. Each image frame is fine-tuned down to the pixel, resulting in a beautifully precise image with crystal-clear motion.

Quantum Dot Colour
With quantum dot technology, colours are more vivid, accurate, and varied – with over a billion shades to see. With all those shades, hues and tones on offer, Hisense gets you closer to reality with a picture quality like looking in the mirror. Yikes!

Total HDR Solution
This TV has an HDR Full House. What does that mean in real terms? Generally speaking, HDR helps create detailed and lifelike visuals by balancing colour, contrast and brightness frame-by-frame. The U7KAU even provides a better picture anytime, anywhere. With Dolby Vision IQ & HDR10+ Adaptive, your picture is automatically adjusted based on what you’re watching and where you’re watching it. So, if you’re in a dingy basement or a bright bedroom, your TV will adjust to create the best picture possible.

Dolby Atmos®
Dolby Atmos Sound is cinema technology for your home, making things louder and clearer through every sound in every scene. A step up from surround sound, Dolby Atmos uses moving audio, wrapping you up inside the action.

IMAX Enhanced
Like being at the cinema. But at home in your PJs. IMAX Enhanced combines IMAX signature picture and DTS immersive sound with the best consumer products and streaming platforms. Plus, Hollywood’s leading tech specialists have given it the seal of approval – so you know it’s good.

200 Smooth Motion with AI Sports Mode
Blurred lines? Not on this TV, the 120Hz native refresh rate means smoother pictures that keep up with every action-packed moment. 200 Smooth Motion also removes the digital ‘noise’ that can affect moving objects, making every sliding tackle perfectly clear.

If live sports are on, so is Sports Mode with automatic AI sport detection. The enhanced surround sound keeps the commentator clear as the chants of the crowd surround you, while the fast-motion picture picks up every detail for the ultimate front-row seat.

VIDAA U7 Smart TV
With a faster, more customisable operating system, finding great entertainment fast has never been easier. Switch between apps and connected devices, receive recommendations and search thousands of shows across Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, and many more!

TÜV Rheinland User Data Protection Certification
Data protection matters now more than ever. That’s why we make sure Hisense VIDAA Smart TVs are GDPR compliant, with TÜV Rheinland User Data Protection Certification. So you can enjoy your TV knowing your data is protected.1

Smart Home Ready
Connect your TV with smart home solutions. Go hands-free with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple Airplay and Apple Home and control your TV with a simple command.2

Hands-free Voice Control
Put down the remote, and use your voice to change the channel, find the latest movie, stream your favourite video and more. With built-in voice assistants, such as VIDAA Voice and Alexa, enjoy convenient voice-powered search and control of your TV. The quicker, easier way to find whatever you want to watch. What you do with your hands is up to you.

anyone got a hisense? What I'm reading is the U.S models are awesome, and thats what rtings gets, but the NZ / AUS versions are suspect.

    • Just watched a UK review of this model and it begun with "With all the tv's featuring identical model numbers now having the same specifications worldwide…..", and in the text he wrote "..As such, the U7K you buy in the UK matches the same TVs with that model number in other countries". Could just mean that the numbers are the same not the actual parts used, he doesn't clarify.

I have one and it looks good for the price. But I'm not his friend. At least not that I know of.

Could be the start of something, think about that. A friendship based based on descent quality TVs that are at a good price.

I like to think that, at some point, there will be an exchange here along the lines of:

          Gertrude! Is that you??

Horatio! I can't believe it - all these years on Choicest Cheapest, and I never realised it was you!

I've got a 55U7HNZ, has been good since they replaced the motherboard in the first month :) Apparently it's quite the quality lottery…

Vidaa is bad though, US models use Android. Need to get a Chromecast or something similar if you actually want to run a variety of streaming apps.

They come with a 3 year warranty which it helpful.

Same price at HN if that is closer for pick up :)

One of the reviews on that page states that they could not install NZ TV apps - might be a good heads up there.

Any idea what 'NZ TV Apps' they might mean? Maybe TVNZ / TV3 etc streaming apps?

If so, I wonder what would be stopping the installs?

      • Yes Vidaa doesn't run Neon, Three, TVNZ or TVIRL if you want terrestrial NZ channels

        • Okay. I am inclined to ignore the built in 'smarts' and just use Chromecast or similar going forward anyway, since support for updates is more reliable, and if / when it is out of date, I can buy another for $50 / $100 or whatever (much less than a new TV!)

Seems like it has HDMI 2.1 and supports VRR - this should work with PS5 then? I have an old 58" Hisense and 'great for the price' is definitely how I would describe it. Vidaa definitely sucks but total non-issue with Chromecast. The only two issues I have with my old Hisense are the HDMI CEC isn't great but that might be the chromecast's fault, and secondly there's no lip sync option on the TV so I couldn't use Atmos on my soundbar without it being slightly out of sync, but this could be due to the lack of eARC on my model. Could be good to check this out in-store if you're at all worried about this.

  • Back to full price now, both places
    :()

  • Hisense offer a good price point for a 120Hz backlit TV. Downsides however are no ThreeNow and TVNZ+ apps for the foreseeable future (still in development) and narrower viewing angles on the U7 sizes that use the VA panel. The NZ models have VIDAA which is responsive and runs the usual international apps.

    • just download the apk and sideload it

I thought there must be a way of doing that. Has been alright for us just using the web browser with bookmarks pinned to the home menu, similar enough to the native apps.
