Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 Tracker 4 Pack (2 Black, 2 White) $99 + Delivery or C&C @ PB Tech

160

Usually $49 ea if bought individually, for non- education users.

Part of their Samsung Smash sale, lots of other things on sale.

Plenty of criticisms of these online, but I've been delighted with mine. Nice to sit in the airport lounge and see that your suitcase is apparently somewhere in the plane out the window (well if it is the right plane!). Nice to get the tracker to beep if you lose keys around the house. Peace of mind to have them concealed in my food caravan and e-bike. The silicone cases (which are very good) have a small reduction as well. (If collecting, insert your card rather than paying the excessive 41c paywave surcharge).

  • You say non-education users. Is there a special price for education users?

It's cheaper than the education store.

    • $34.something for a single tag in the edu store. (.ac.nz email address required)

Should note PBtech currently has the single tag for $30, which is cheaper than the edu store. But samsung offers free shipping.

How do these work if item is more than 120m away?

    • should be similar to airtag, it uses nearby Samsung phone location via Bluetooth

  • I find the Smarttag better than the airtag as it has family sharing and does not beep when with another device like airtag. Tracking is the same on both airtag and smarttag.
    Only works with Galaxy devices

  • Be interesting, as with the new update to Find my Device. Things like Chipolo and Pebblebee will likely work better for any Android device including Samsung

Anyone in Welly keen to split a pack for just under $25@? I only need one but it'd break my cheapie heart to pay $30 for a single

I've been curious about these, but I've just clicked that they only work on Samsung devices so a bit useless for me.

Noel Leeming were happy to price match instore, but not online.

I got a price match this morning from NL but as to their standard policy by lunchtime they probably changed their terms & conditions and found some wording or number.

      • Ha, yea, "It's on sale so it doesn't qualify".

        • NL are weird when it comes to price matching.
Dishwasher was on sale at harveys but no stock locally so i asked NL and they said no initially saying its a "special order" (not menitoned anywhere just not near me)
Went back and found that smith city were also doing the promo then they were able to do it!?

          • @mdsl32: IMO TWG has been hesitant to price match for the past few years, as I think store profitability KPIs get impacted, whereas contact centre has customer satisfaction KPIs to meet. But if you find a team member (not manager) in a good mood in-store they might be able to help.

            • @Avantime: Yea I mean when I was at NL sometimes it depended on the profit margin and if its negative we were less like to do it or get it approved by a manager. Yes though some items for us were special order so you can't price match it necessarily (its funny sometimes the website doesn't say its special order but our app did lol).
Sometimes ppl would do the price match but then upsell on services like warranty or delivery+install lol. If you got someone who just wanted a sale they would just price match. Also generally if its between 1-5% discount then the sales person won't need authorisation from a manager so they are more likely to do it quickly but I think they have clamped down on that heavily now xD. In any case whole job you have to be self serving otherwise ur just getting min wage :/.
At NL margin is everything, if its negative it hurts ur opportunity to make more money and looks bad on your kpi xd. Extremely toxic loop :/
I guess you guys can imagine how bad it was on sale days when corporate puts negative margin on stuff :(
Also if you just negative margin the whole day you basically only earned min wage lol because you will get no commission, but you worked so hard selling so much to customers and helping custs out. Sometimes we could easily do more than 50-60 sales per day. That is so many interactions it was draining lmaoo

              • @1ys23: Negative margin is becoming more and more common which is a concerning trend.
I have heard horror stories from staff who are basically forced to tank their KPI over a price match.

                • +2

@mdsl32: Yup lol, but its been like that for a while now xD. I've personally had to tank my KPI's when I was there (not too long ago, I left like last year lol). NL procurement team sucks lol too many things going negative margin cause they buy from bulk suppliers in NZ like Ingram Micro etc xD, so they don't always get the best price. NL is banking too much on services and warranties, their long-term gameplan is flawed. They also don't care about consumer trends or bringing quality products lmao. I mean hey why don't they bring Anker Soundcores as a cheaper good quality ANC noise cancelling alternative? Its because they don't bother to read market trends. If they wanted to stop pandering to older clients they could have a much larger gaming section with more options and competitive pricing to try and bring in that crowd, but nah they just wanna keep the boomers happy lmao. They are their own downfall xd. Don't get me started on SPIV (bonus commission) on products too lmaoo, that's why every NL sales wants to sell you a screen cleaner it has a $5 SPIV for the sales person if you buy it or they discount it off a TV and they usually won't need authorization from a manager ahaha
