Yes I know we all knew about it a week ago, but it seems Dick Smith are finally advertising it Dick Smith Crazy Clearance- In-store only

There are still deals to be had, especially if your trained in bargain hunting (it also helps to know what is on clearance) as most of the good remaining bargains are not clearly marked or are in strange places.

Best deals I spotted today that are most likely to still be in stock:

    • $9.20 3000 mAh powerbank (Product codes PW0159 for white, PW0158 for black)
    • Phillips 5 way surge board with USB power (PW6030) was 80% off before discount it is $139 .
    • Phillips 6 way surge board (PW6028) 80% off before discount it is $80.
    • $6 for AAA 8 pack Eneloops in chocolate colour, previously mentioned deal however prices have decreased further.
    • 50% off all batteries, which I believe includes all Eneloop (I did not verify).
    • 80% off all phone and tablet cases, this includes some pretty nice keyboard cases.
    • 80% off all tools, 12V DSE branded cordless drill $19
    • Large variety of Targus laptop shoulder bags and sleeves 80% off, I got a laptop shoulder bag down from $100 to $20 with the 80% off.
    • Digital cameras are now 30% off, no crazy deals however this includes GoPro. If you are in Wellington Dick Smith Johnsonville has a GoPro Hero+ LCD for $342.30 down from $489.

Essentially anything with a red sticker on it is now 80% off, this is across multiple product lines. Some stores are beginning to look pretty picked over however if you go to less central stores you may have more luck.

    • Oh damn, great price for the AAA eneloop 8pk. Will check if there are any in Auckland left. All Otterbox case are 80% off too. Saw this guy walked out of Auckland central store with 10 of those Defender series cases which are insanely expensive in Noel Leeming and JB hifi

      • +2

Cheers, coolstorybro. The Reciever's Sale webpage has been updated with the flyer from this morning's email, but still lists mobile phones at 25% off.

I just checked some mobile phones on the Dick Smith website and all say they are 30% off the original price.

        So:

        UPDATE

30% off the original price of unlocked Mobile Phones

Thanks again for pointing this out. I'm not sure why Dick Smith didn't update their flyer.

    • That's awesome Shaw! Are you aware that your local store, the Levin store, will close on April 9? It was advised somewhere else on ChoiceCheapies, but I guess that list could also be posted in this forum.

        • That's the one, thanks ClipIt.

      • +1

Yea bro, the staff have a sign up with "# of days to go" or something similar. Had a chat to them today, none have been able to find other jobs yet, so that's a bit of a pain in the ass for them.

  • Anyone able to find 4 pack aa eneloops? None at palmy and the 2 pack is like $8

    • Think there were some in Taupo when I was there a week ago.

The 8 packs are the best deals though.

      • Yeah, no place in nz I'm aware of have aa 8 packs, the aa are seemingly becoming extinct

        • I got some glitter AA packs, 3 of them, the other day from Levin. $12 a pack, but none left now.

They were the original Sanyo branding too, so must've been sitting around for a while.

        • aww dude, you wait just one more week for a higher rate of discount and all the best gear are now Gone :( and my eyes are like scarred by the mountains of cables and cheap faceplates…

        • I got the second to last one at Alexandra

  • There are still a bunch of Fuji Instax cameras in the Takapuna and Newmarket stores, currently selling for $77 but will certainly go lower soon.

    • +1

Instax cameras now down to $64.50

      • +1

That's super cheap! Too bad I already have one plus an instax share!

And shout out to amscar for being awesome by helping another cheapies brother out!

90% off red dot in the stores closing this week.

    • +1

Yes it's only for their red dot items, but it includes all of their 'super premium' HDMI cables.

      • Ha yea, that is true. I got a few decent tablet cases etc. though, for around $3 - $4 each, so some alright deals to be had there still.

  • 50% to 85% now!

    • But do any stores have anything decent left?

      • mmm I know quite a lot of stores still have the "premium" cables that are red dot. But as for other items, probably not haha

        • +1

Haha HDMI cables… Got plenty of those.

        • +1

@Shaw: Yes but those connectors are sooooo shiny! At 90% off I just have to have them.

        • +1

          @Avantime:

Fair enough, nothing beats a shiny HDMI cable!!

        • @Shaw: Oh and plenty of 7"/8"/10" tablet cover and cases left too! + indoor/outdoor antenna are at least 70% off?

Oh andear does anyone know which auckland store still have the wireless keyboard with a touchpad? (Either dse branded or logitech)

  • Anyone come across any cheap CR2032 batteries at DS?

    • Here's the product page online.

      • Cheers, would be this one, can't buy online anymore though. Local store has closed, and going to check Palmy next week, but who knows what will be left there.

        Actually, cheaper on Trademe anyway.

And much cheaper on eBay :)

        • Just about everything seems cheaper on eBay. Needed a replacement Fitbit recharger cable (grrr coys who supply products with unique connectors) Was going to cost about NZ$35 plus $15 postage from NZ supplier. Bought two (supposedly original) for $5, postage included (from seller with great eBay store rep). With the built in purchase protection from both eBay and Paypal, hard to go wrong.

        • @Jay: Was this cable for Fitbit charge? If so can you send me a link?

        • @Kristo: Ours was for a Charge HR which has a different charge cable to the Charge (why oh why such madness??) I used axeprice. Not sure if they have the Charge cable. But plenty of sellers. Just a matter of searching for one with free international freight.

    • Always get these button cells at a two dollar shop, like the Look Sharp stores in Auckland. DSE is too expensive and eBay/Dealextreme batteries takes too long to arrive, and the vast majority of the branded button cells (e.g. Sony, Maxell) are fake - if it's fake you might as well buy the unbranded ones locally.

      • Yea, would have if I needed them ASAP.

    • If you still want some Dick Smith have some 10 for $5.

      • Ended up getting some from eBay, about 20 for that price :) thanks though.

  • +1

Closing dates for stores have now been advised, all NZ stores will be closed by 30 April.

    Some Wellington store dates:
    Featherston St, Friday 29th April
Johnsonville, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt Saturday 30th April.

Unsure about the other Wellington stores or nationwide but according to the email all stores in NZ will be closed by the Saturday.

  • UPDATE

PRICES CUT AGAIN: 60 - 90% off the original price on thousands of items.

    90% off Red Dot accessories

60% off the original price of all Audio, Headphones, Speakers, Home Theatre, Blu-ray and DVD Players, Home Appliances, GPS and Cameras (all were only 50% last week, 40% the week before)

35% off the original price of unlocked Mobile Phones (was only 30% last week)
30% off the original price of TVs, desktop computers, notebooks and tablets (was only 25% last week)
20% off the original price of Apple watches and iPods (was only 15% last week)
15% off the original price of Apple iPads (no change on last week)
10% off the original price of Apple computers (no change on last week)
5% off the original price of Apple iPhones (no change on last week)

Once again, I'm unsure what categories have products discounted between 60 and 90% so would appreciate members posting this information if they come across it.

    Happy shopping :)

    • Anything left in Palmy store bro? Thinking of going in for a look next week.

      • Haven't been in since last Tuesday. Yes, they have heaps of home appliances, speakers, power boards were nearly all gone and plenty of phone cases, batteries and audio and charging cables.

        • +1

Sweet, might go in for a look if there is still some stuff there.

  • +2

Pity they have taken the search function off the DickSmith website, was handy for working out the prices of products without bothering the staff - beginning of the end I suppose.

    • I was using that frequently over the last few weeks!

  • +3

If anyones local store has a Canon MB2360 in stock they are $120 with a $130 cashback from Canon if purchased prior to or on 17 April. In Wellington the only store with stock is Upper Hutt who have one at time of posting.

Also Featherston St store has two Apple watches at 20% off, one space stainless steel black sport strap and one stainless steel white sport strap both 42mm.

    • I'm going to get that printer first thing tomorrow. Do you know if the lower hutt store has any apple watches at 20% off.

      • No sorry, I haven't been out that way. Might pay to call the Upper Hutt store first to confirm its still there as they were showing 3 in stock but apparently only have one new and one display.

        • So they have two printers. I can buy them get the cashback and then throw them both away and make $20! Thanks for that will probably call them.

    • 20% off apple watches and ipods. With the Apple Watches it's important to not that Apple have recently had a price drop on them but the 20% is off the old price. So on the apple watch sport it's only $20 off. Also all other apple is 20% off.

If your local store has any demo kindle paperwhite second gens on display then ask if they can be reset.

Just got two ex demo paperwhites from Manners St for $77 each. No more left there, they have an ex demo fire for $70 still there in good condition.

    • Wow.. Nice price! If you wanted to get rid of one, feel free to PM me haha.

      • Unfortunately they've already gone to a friend and a family member for what I paid.

I picked up some AAA Eneloops 2 pack for $3.40 and a Navman Dashcam for $70 if you need either of those two things though!

        • Ahh that's all good.

Should be all stocked for Eneloops for a while now, so that's cool. Will think about the cam, what model is it?

        • @Shaw:

Navman MiVue 530, current price at PB Tech is $155 apparently.

          Here's a link to product description: http://www.navman.co.nz/car-camera/MiVue-Series/MiVue530/Oveā€¦

        • @asmcar:

Sweet, I'll check out Palmy next week and get back to you mate, cheers.

        • @asmcar:

All good for the cam, don't really need it aye. Thanks though mate.

Went into palmy today, they are refusing to sell the demo models, they are brig sent back to the manufacturers. Being real pricks about it when questioned too lol.

        • @Shaw:

Was that the demo kindle? Or all demo?

        • @asmcar:

Demo Kindle, but implied it applied to all demo stock. Were a couple of Kindles and a PSP there.

        • @Shaw:

They definitely have to return the PlayStation stuff as there was a demo PS4 in a pile of stock they were adamant they couldn't sell. Surprised about the Kindle tho.

        • @asmcar:

Yea, they just seemed like real downer (profanity), but ohw ell, wife got a cheap tablet anyway, that'll do for now.

        • @Shaw:

What store wouldn't sell you demo kindle? I just picked up another standard kindle touch 4GB demo for $34.83, 70% off then another 10% off because it's a demo model.

I reset it myself and tested to see I could register an account before I bought it. Guess it depends on who you deal with.

        • @asmcar:

Was Palmy, they all seemed like depressed (profanity) there. I mean you are losing you job, but still, no need to be a prick about it to everyone else. Sweet, that's a great price.

        • @Shaw:

Ah thought so - I haven't heard very good things about that store so not surprised you had that experience.

Apparently all of their Apple stock has been shifted to Wellington stores FYI.

        • @asmcar:

I can give you first hand, twice now, they have been pretty crap to deal with. Ohwell, not like I'm going back again anyway haha.

Apparently all of their Apple stock has been shifted to Wellington stores FYI.

Wouldn't touch Apple products if my life depended on it, but won't go into that lol :)

I can confirm I now have an abundance of reverse travel adapters too lol, about 10 of the things. Can never have too many!

  • Microsoft office 365 is at 70% off and showing stock in Auckland with 10+ units at Queen Street and Sylvia park with smaller quantities at other stores.

Wellington stock is showing as available as of opening this morning at Porirua (3), Queensgate (6).

Personal single user one year is $35.70 with cat code XS1967

Home premium 5 users one year is $49.50 with cat code XS1480.

The home and student one was also 70% but unsure of price.

    • Yeah I can confirm there's at least three at Queen St store (saw it last Friday). That's a pretty good price for office! Would have bought it but I get my MS Office 2016 and 2013 for free anyway haha.

25% off the ticketed price of store fixtures and fittings

The Final Closure Dates for Dick Smith stores have now been released. Find out when your local store is closing the doors!

Pukekohe store closed last Tuesday. New Plymouth, Lyall Bay, Hornby, Northwood and Greymouth close today.

    Happy shopping :)

    • +1

15% off iPhones at the warehouse. 5% at dick Smith.

      • Enough said!

    • In store the fixtures are now 50% off.

      • In store the fixtures are now 50% off

lol… even selling store fixtures are using the DSE way - set a ridiculous high initial price, and even at 80% off, it is still expensive…

    • Final day is 30th April

  • If anyone is at a Dick Smith with cheap Xbox One games, feel free to let me know what they have got. Cheers.

    • Pretty sure they cleared their gaming inventory during the pre-receivership clearance. There could be a few games still kicking around though.

      • Apparently they had a whole bin for $6 each in Palmy the other day, but I didn't have an Xbox, so just walked right past them.

    • None in Upper Hutt or Lower Hutt

    • +2

False alarm, it was just piles of cases with no games! Haha

      • ahahahhaha…. discs were probably 'borrowed' by staff a while back…

  • iPhones at Featherston St now 25% off, only one is new though all the rest are demo.

New model is iPhone 6+ 64GB for $1049.

  • All stores should be accepting offers for bulk buys around this time of day. Just bought approx 10 Android phones (all of the ones they had left) for $300 in total. Marked price at 60% off RRP was $450.

  • One of the stores was selling Nexus 4 for over $300, what a rip off!
    Which phones did you get?

    • Actually ended up buying 25 phones, 15 for $150 (Low end some Android some candy bar non touch) and then the 10 for $300 I mentioned which were also lower end Android devices, but all touch screen and all Android. Think I could have actually gotten the price lower but oh well.

Also, just missed out on scoring at iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6Plus for $450 each due to being on wrong side of town.

Ah well - all over now until next closing down sale!

    • Quick spotting! It wasn't earlier in the week. Looks like a nicer website too!

      • The website is identical to Kogan, only a different colour scheme. Even the same prices.

  • Just did a post with all the good specials at Dick Smith (Kogan)

Also I think the message saying:

Please note that Dick Smith has gone into Administration. While the business is currently trading as normal, this may change with no notice and may affect customers.

If you are posting a deal using a code or information from an existing post, please reference that original post in your deal.
If the product is only available in store, please mention the store in the title and description (INCLUDE THE SUBURB).

That comes when you want to post a Dick Smith Deal should go since Dick Smith is no longer in Administration and a product can't be in-store only.

    • +1

      Sweet, have removed that block.

  • Have removed Dick Smiths price match from the wiki page as new Dick Smith (Kogan) don't offer a new Price Match.
