  • Thinking of getting the blower and edger combo. Anyone knows the running time?

If that edger is only 18v and not even brushless, you'll find it get bogged down and bounce back quite often.

These types of edgers need a good power source to dig through the soil, cut, and roll properly. And they hog power, so 18V won't be of much use unless you have lots of time and batteries to kill.

Either a corded one or a petrol one would be better.
36V and above could be useful but it's not worth the price for a tool that's used less often than other garden tools (mower, trimmer, blower).

Source: owned a brushless Ryobi 18V ExpandIt with edger attachment. Not very happy about it. The trimmer is fantastic though.

      • Thank you. Appreciate this. We have quite a bit of edging, so sounds like its a no-go this time.

        • I do a lot of edging using just my line trimmer. Flip it over and you can move quite fast. Most pros use line trimmers only.

      • which model of trimmer is good?

        • Depends on your budget and how big your section is I guess.

For me personally, I have a 600m2 area of lawn back and front, my Ryobi 33/38cm Brushless 18v trimmer took care of it with 2 more batteries. But if I were to upgrade, I'd grab a Makita 2x18v Brushless multihead with price match when Makita have their battery redemption promo on. Or AEG 2x18v.

Also, you should look into the line used in the trimmer itself, the ones with a hardened core last much longer.
