  • Thanks OP.

You probably just saved me from a brain injury + eating through a straw in my future.

    • +2

Dang, could probably combine with the $20 off $100 newsletter signup.

Although shipping is not free ($10) like burkes is and is $1 more expensive, so total savings are only $9.

Giro Switchblade $149 is also a good ff helmet
Giro Mtb Tempo Goggles $15 would also pick this up
As well as a pair of $10 gloves

    • dang. sizing is quite limited on this one

  • Why is the retail price on these helmets so expensive? How are they better from something like this:
    https://www.forza.nz/products/oneal-3-series-flat-adult-mx-h…

The one I posted seems to have foam padding all around and looks to be more protective of your head.

    • That one doesn't have MIPS.

    • i am guessing the difference would be cooling and ventilation? your head might get too hot wearing the moto helmet and pedalling uphill.

    • Main reason for the cost of these helmets is because of the r&d spent creating the best possible experience for riders.

That one linked looks like a Motocross helmet, not mountain biking. Very heavy (over double the weight) and hot.

  • These are great helmets, they're the lightest full face helmet with mips. They're also this price at a a few retailers (Mud Cycles, Flowtech Bikes if you're in Wellington) they must be bringing out some new ones next year for so many retailers selling them all at similar price.

I was in between sizes unfortunately.

    • The Dainese Linea 01 is lighter if anyone cares about 30g. But 170 odd bucks is a hell of a deal for the IXS.

      • Do you know where i can buy Dainese Linea 01 in new zealand?

        • No idea currently sorry. I bought mine a year or more ago from some place in Europe.

      • Oh that looks nice! I'm off to the UK in 2 weeks, might see if I can find one to try. Sizing on the ixs didn't work for me.
