Best iPad or Tablet for Seniors

I'd really appreciate any insights on which might be the best suited ipad or tablet for seniors. They're use to using an iPad which has stopped working and needs to be replaced. Thanks

  • How good are they with them?

my folks struggled with the 'swipe to go home' requirement on their phones, id probably look for the base model ipad for them. The screens are still big enough and bright enough and they're fast enough

    • Thanks. They've been used to using an Apple iPad, one with the button at the bottom, so pretty good with it. Was just looking online and it seems maybe the Gen 9 iPad is a good basic model and the 64GB is an okay price at around $640.

Yup I agree with that. If they already have an iPad then no point in changing (old dog, new tricks etc)

The 9th gen iPad is about as cheap as it gets for a new iPad. There are some deals to be had for slightly less, including education discount if you can.

Its not the cheapest, but if they can afford it, it will be the nicest experience for them

        • Thank you. Unfortunately not a teacher or student so won’t qualify for an education discount. I’m looking to see what good buys there might be.

@SilverLining: Looks like the PB early Black Friday sales have it for $630

@SilverLining: Just buy from education store. No verification is required

I personally find the iPad mini best because I have arthritis in my hands and find the larger one too weighty to hold while reading books and newspapers. Guess it depends on your eyesight and other health problems that may develop.

    • Good thoughts, thank you.

For senior you need a table with the biggest possible displays my dad used a 12 inch on a table was comfortable for him

  • Unless they are a native Samsung user would always say go with the iPad route.
However if they are a bit more budget conscious Samsung ones are at least familiar and usually more user intuitive than some of the other brands.

  • Yeah 11-2inch tablets are best, got my parents Lenovo P11's few years back.

If anyone's parents are android users then look at the Xiaoxin Pads

any tablets you do buy you'll want to make sure Widevine L1 is supported ideally for things like netflix
    (apple/samsung tabs are already )

    • iPad user so thinking of sticking with iPad, Gen 9, thanks though.
