[Ex Demo] LG 48" C2 OLED 4K Smart TV (Store Demo Grade 2) $900 + Free Shipping @ Talk is Cheap

170

12 Months warranty
Does not include the IR blaster or Cable tie.

This is an ex-demo, with wear n tear scratches on remote and may have some marks scratches on back from being displayed. TV may not be in original box.

I had not heard of this site until someone posted on Reddit about paying $1500 for one of these last week but it's now $900 and seeking advice if they could get some money back - so I checked out the site and ended up placing an order. I'm in the Wairarapa and shipping was free with 2/3 day delivery. I wasn't in the market for a new TV but I may have a go at using this a computer monitor to get more real estate from my current 38" ultrawide. If it's too big and makes my eyes bleed, I'll replace my old 49" HDTV with this. I think the $900 price is for the weekend but not 100% certain. I was hesitant to share this as it's for store demo units and not new but I think this seems like a fair price for this TV if there's no marks or scratches on the screen itself. I think these are demo units from Spark stores. 7 units left at time of posting. I'll post an update when this shows up (if it does) and what the condition is like.

  • I personally think it is still a very good purchase!

Great price for used C2 48''.

Picked one up thanks! 5 left!

  • Quite an impulse purchase. I wasn't sure and was hesitating, looking at previous prices. Then I refreshed the page, 5 in stock turned to 3 in stock, straight in the basket and through checkout.

Just a fyi check for burn.
LGs demo content roasted a demo unit beyond repair.
Make sure you check on arrival.

Dam missed out. Keen to know what the condition is like for those who purchased it.

What subreddit did you see this posted in btw?

      Good evening

I purchased a used LG C2 TV from Talkischeap.co.nz which is Spark NZs online store for getting rid of trade in and floor/demo goods. I bought the TV on the 28th Aug for $1500. I had a look tonight and the price has gone down to $900. Do you think there is any chance they will refund me the difference or just bad luck.

      Appreciate any help 😊

Feedback from the poster about the TV they received:

my one was the same grade as is available now but at the time was only 4 available and now there’s 8, possibly they got some cheaper stock from elsewhere that was slightly worse condition, the one I got was really nice condition when I received it but they still graded it as grade 2 (may have marks/scratches)

Had a good experience so far, the TV looked basically brand new (minor scratches where the stand screws into the TV at the back), the shipping from Auckland to Wellington overnight was awesome, would recommend, yeah would agree they haven’t put too much effort into the website though/no actual photos of the units, my one does look like the one in the photos on the website though

Received mine today. No scratches or marks. Picture crystal clear and audio is great through soundbar. This is a beast of a TV at an awesome price. Was missing 2 screws for the stand but i'm a tradie so had a few lying around. Also saw in the TV info - 4300 hrs of usage which is probably the reason for the markdown price

      • Interesting on the hours of usage. Nonetheless, congrats on the new tv at a great price!

  • I'd be curious about the warranty part. They still have to comply with the CGA, so the general minimum of 2 years might still apply?

    • It states it's a 1 year warranty through them, so I don't know how good their support would be. Hopefully I won't have to make use of the warranty.

I would be going direct to LG for warranty. I would have done the same when I got my Samsung TV's when DSE was closing down.

      • That might not work if the manufacturer’s warranty has expired
        https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/general-help/common-c….
        Faulty product or service
If the business is a registered company under administration, contact the receivers or administrators to claim your rights for faulty products or services under the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA).
If not, claim under the manufacturer’s warranty or contact the manufacturer directly to make a claim under the CGA.
However, your rights are more limited than with a supplier, and depend on the warranty.

        • My last experience was 3.5 year old Bosch dishwasher, went direct and a brief mention of life span / CGA and the repairer was sent out to replace parts free of charge to me. A TV is expected to last longer than any company is going to freely offer up warranty for. Some are even 12 months for a TV I think, which isn't going to stand up versus an expected life of a TV.

    • Hi, wondering how long is LG Oled Tv's warranty? My C1 is faulty just a bit less than 2 years of purchase

      • re: LG Oled Tv's warranty?

You live in new zealand and purchased it in new zealand so the answer is how ever long a reasonable person would expect it to last.

Manufacturers rely on people not knowing their rights and going only by the warranty they state. CGA mentions that products should last an appropriate time. Two years for a relatively expensive TV like an OLED, should last longer. No one buys one expecting two years of use. Bit like a fridge should last YEARS. So even thought LG state 12 months, it's a load of rubbish. Contact them direct with the fault and see what they say. If they fob you off, mention CGA and expected life, small claims if they still won't budge.

tl;dr LG may say 12 months warranty, CGA says a TV should last a reasonable life. It's not sub two years. Hit them up for repair.

        • There are instances where the warranty term advertised and the warranty term offered are not the same.

Presumably, it's a layover from agreements with some of the aus retailers who offer extended cover. I know first hand of a brand that advertises one year but does three to 'comply with australia and new zealand consumer law'.

      • To give an example, Samsung fridge, well out of "warranty". Contacted direct with the issue, they sent someone out and deemed it not economical to repair. New fridge supplied. Just have to know what to say to avoid being fobbed off with "sorry out of warranty".

      • Cheers guys! Yeah they are quite tricky - told me only one year warranty, I will talk to them about CGA

        • Retail staff here. Do not be a dick and start screaming on the counter too many people take it out on staff which is unfair.
Try calling LG first and talk to them nicely if they refuse then contact the retailer and do the same. It will take some time as it's back and forth with the vendor to get it covered.

    • How would cga apply here? These are clearly used goods, does it make it different ?

      • Yeah valid point. Unless they buy direct from LG, then could be a retail sale originally. Lost my reciept etc. TV's should be made to last so IMO companies should be building them to last. If the TV has a million on hours then it's a different story though. I don't know their history, just commenting in general as to warranty vs what you are actually covered for.

  • ahhh missed out.

I think 48 wouldve been too big for me anyway.

Come on 42" cheapies. I check most retailers maybe once every 2-3 weeks.

    • Missed out too, 42" would be ideal for me as well for gaming on PC.

      • Id like to be the 'that guy' at the office with two of them

Not sure if anyone will see this but my TV was delivered today and it's in pretty much perfect condition. No mark on the scree, nothing on the stand or back of the TV. The remove was a bit dusty but that was about it. So hopefully that's the case for others. But ya, pretty happy with it considering the cost.

  • Mine just arrived, I'm not sure but i think it might have been damaged in shipping, It has two permanent marks on it that wont come off.
The marks line up roughly where the box damage is.
