  • Can't say I ever get McDonald's, but on this occasion with this deal I did.
Small Big Mac combo plus cheese burger.
    Freebie medium fries.
    Freebie hot apple pie.
$8.00 in total feels like a reasonable price.
Now I don't need to go back for another year.

Was the freebie fries and hot apple pie just from doing yesterday and today's FIFA game? Or was one from the Feedback Freebie?

      • +1

The freebies were from the FIFA competition. One yesterday and one today.

    • The app won't let me redeem anything anymore .. It comes up with a security check that phone won't pass. All well less junk food for me lol

    • You'll be back after you had the sundae 😁

      • Haha, I'll let you know. Flavour you recommend?

        • Strawberry Sundae

Try all of them and then decide, because they're free 😁

After reading @The Hound's comment earlier in the week:

Try all of them and then decide, because they're free 😁

I took it upon myself today to try the two flavours I would never buy because I realised I've never tried them (because why would you ever take anything else over chocolate). But since they're free…here's my unsolicited review:

Strawberry - I've always thought the strawberry sauce was a syrup of sorts, but it is actually more akin to a strawberry jam consistency with bits of actual strawberry which is a pleasant surprise.

Caramel - The caramel sauce is sticky and doesn't mix well with the sundae.

So now I've tried them all, the rankings 1. Hot Fudge 2. Strawberry 3. Caramel

Get Hot Fudge 99% of the time; Strawberry for when you want something fruity. Don't get the Caramel. You can also get plain sundae if you fancy none of the flavours.

          Hope that helps. ✌

          • @CheapieSniper: yep, find one or two flavours you like, then go nuts because you only got one week left lol

    • Did you have to do 3 separate orders? Once I claimed the freebie it wouldn't let me add any other copoins to the order.

Yep, three separate orders. Did them all at the touchscreen kiosks.

Interesting discussion about Maccas and price gouging

    • This is awesome! As I mentioned I am not really a McDonald's eater (at all I'd say). Went more than 10 years without eating it. This is just another reason to add to my list as to why I'm not a user.

In recent years (since moving to Nelson) I've had it only a few times and that's only when I've been able to maximise freebies etc.

    • But don't some of the big ecommerce websites do this all the time by offering certain customers special deals at certain times based on their profile. Or how about ISPs who offer discounted plans to new customers, while existing customers pay more.

      • I'm sure AirNZ do something like this too. Search too many flight options on a particular route and suddenly the price has gone up on the original option. Correct me if I'm wrong.

      • Yeah same thing how broadband companies offer 3 months free or half price 6 months to new customers. Meanwhile, existing loyal customers get an email informing them of monthly price increases by next month lol

        • Yes, and that means that either people have to switch to another provider, or contact that provider to match the deal they are giving new customers. Essentially existing customers are subsidising those new customers, by paying the higher price.

  • The ol' Monopoly game is back
