  • pity their coffee is a let down.

    • Amen to that Singh. Bought this the last time around. Hugely disappointed at the quality of the coffee. Barista (lol) couldn't even tell me anything about the coffee they were using that day. Kinda get used to getting excellent coffee, each with its own providence. Such a disappointment to go back to a generic 'Dunno' coffee. Good enough for a mid morning pickup but absolutely not for a quiet long sit and savour.

  • I guess it depends on which branch you use , my partner brought this deal last time its was listed , we have got great value out of the card. Can recommend this branch which we used daily when i queenstown.

We are located in Auckland and for what you pay i don't think all branches are bad in reguards to the coffee

It is a matter of personal taste

    • Quite possibly, Marlinz. I would have thought all the stores would use a generic coffee supplied by the franchiser, but perhaps not. Can't imagine them getting away with an inferior bean in Queenstown, so perhaps they stock their own supply.

Certainly a worry when the Barista doesn't know anything (type of roast, bean mix, country of origin, fair trade, etc etc) about the coffee they are serving. A speciality roaster would know all that and more, being proud to strut their knowledge of the nuances of the product.

At one of the Coffee Club outlet I asked at, the Barista was quite apologetic. She'd quietly admitted that she'd tried to find that out herself, as a matter of professional pride. But that the other staff & manager had not been the least bit interested and told her not to be so inquisitive or precious.

But absolutely, if not a coffee fiend, then Coffee Club provide an acceptable, if anonymous, cup of coffee, one small step above a teaspoon of instant coffee.

      • Instant coffee tastes better than what the Wellington store has to offer.
