Not sure how the book and cancel post relates?

Do you mean by transferring cash from your other credit card to Revolut?

If so, I would imagine that many credit cards would regard that as a cash advance, and hit you with an appropriate fee?

      • Sorry - I mean to link to the page, not that comment specifically.

If you can pay people via credit card through revolt - then I'm guessing that you could pay yourself with your own cc.
But yes, you're right re: cash advance

        • Yep - there are rarely loop-holes, but no harm in looking for one :-)

          • @Alan6984: All my credit cards got flagged by Fraud Prevention and you have to call your bank to lift the block. And even then, Revolut charges 0.74% for credit card deposits.

Sooo… fellow cheapies… any sign up incentives ?

    • Referral program you can share an invite but not sure what it gets you

      • In Australia / Ozb there is a $100 bonus for the referrer only.

The Referee (i.e. the invited person signing up) gets $0.

        • I guess we could all get on board, make a big train of signups and just transfer out the amount / number of people to the guy at the end through the app or just pull a name out of a hat or something.

If there's a signup bonus I'm up for it. …. although trusting internet strangers yadda yadda

Maybe it finally coming to NZ after years means they will finally let me delete my old account. I used them successfully in 2016 before they realized you need to comply with various financial laws which resulted in them blocking non EU users.

Since that time I haven't seen anything from them I've wanted that Wise hasn't offered but they don't have the same company culture problems and problems with their auditing that Revolut has had.

    • their lounge passes and in-app stock and crypto trading is one of the major difference from wise, though IME their regulations are quite lax compared with the other european neobanks.

      • Oh yep a few extra features then.

How's the pricing of the lounge passes compared to dragonpass directly? That appears to be who they are reselling.
        eg this ozbargain deal

        • lounge passes are ok but nothing that special. their metal cards are the main bragging point lol

Haha riight. I even got the card delivered here years back, but never managed to get it renewed when it expired. But my need for them is kinda gone now, Wise does everything I used them for now and better. Easy to use UI and browser version too.

  • they had a nz waitlist already for the past few years i thought.

got mine in europe they can generate both visa or MC randomly (can have a mix or virtual ones)

  • Got the email to join yesterday.

Been on the waiting list for 2 years. I doubt they'll open here.

    • They have opened here. Completed account sign up myself late last week

      • interesting. so you have got a revolut account card?

        • Yes, card got delivered on Friday

    • Just signed up last night

I wouldn’t go near revolut again if you paid me.

Used their service when I lived in the UK, since moving to NZ and getting a new phone I lost access to my account.

The customer support is the worst I’ve ever seen, they took all my details passport, drivers license a bill for proof of address still just kept going round in circles for weeks.

The only way to get support is through the app itself, but when you’re not able to login it’s very hard to get to the support page, and each time you do, you will get a new support person and go through a huge process again and get nowhere.

Lost access to the account and all funds inside, I’ve heard others with the same issues. They also won’t delete the account so I can’t even make a new one if I wanted to.

I had similar, i think i got a friend or myself to signup just to contact them. Agree tis painful if you lose access

Similar bad customer support experience as describe above.

      Yup same here.

Similar story here. Have gone through all the signup processes and the ID verification process they advise will take 3-5 minutes has been stuck “pending” for 24 hours or so. I’ve resubmitted the photos to try forcing a reboot, and my 20+ minutes of repeated attempts to live chat with an agent (who it says will be with me in roughly one minute) have remained completely unacknowledged.

Not exactly a confidence or excitement inspiring way to launch a supposedly world-class financial convenience instrument. I’ll be hanging far back now until consistent and reliable reports of significant improvements become the norm. Whether that happens at all? Not going to hold my breath.

It was same for me. But it got approved after around 2+ days. So just wait and see. Don't update anything.

Think I’ll stick with my Wise card.

  • I opened it in Europe but I can't change it to NZ address yet.

Also the NZD account I have doesn't provide a local bank accont details.

    • That's quite a significant downside.

  • Share your experience?

Worth signing up for? Any in app deals?

  • Selected the "Free shipping" just got shipping confirmation from DHL Express
Gonna be here in a week.
    Ships from Poland card manufacturer

  • Signed up for the account as have been on the waiting list I guess for many years. Cant really see the benefit over Wise which I really rate. I also cant see a big downside to having one either given the card appears free to get. Feels like they missed the boat thou as if this had come out (pre wise) first then it would have been way ahead.

    • Only benefit i can think of is the disposable credit card. Wise does this too but does not work with all websites

      • I suspect that there will be significant overlap between sites rejecting Revolut virtual cards and those rejecting Wise virtual cards, but no harm in trying both - there will surely be some that accept Wise but not Revolut and vice versa.
