FYI - Spark Fibre Plans Price Increasing

Just received an email, and have checked to confirm.
All Spark Fibre plans are increasing by $6 and Fibre with Benefits plans are increasing by $7 from 1st August

Hi there,

Your plan price is going up

While we try to keep price increases to a minimum, from time to time we need to review our plans and pricing. Due to rising costs we’re increasing the price of your Spark connection listed below by $7.00 a month from 1 August 2023.

To help with this, we’ve outlined some options for you to consider. Otherwise, look out for the new price from your August bill onwards.

What are your options?

Consider a different plan: We have a range of plans available. Simply go to MySpark or the Spark app to see what you’re using now and check your address to see if there’s a better option for you.

Choose to cancel your plan: Just let us know before 1 September 2023 to cancel your plan without any early exit or notice period fees.

If you do choose to cancel, and are left with no other broadband services on your account, you may need to start paying for Xtra Mail. Also, any remaining Interest Free Payments you may have for a modem will show up on your final bill.

Thanks for choosing Spark

We appreciate you choosing us to keep you connected. If you’d like to know more about these changes and your options, go to spark.co.nz/price-increase or contact our team at spark.co.nz/message-us.

Thanks,

The team at Spark

  • Spark seems to be a lot more expensive before the increase than others, why use spark ?

    • My spark was $90 monthly including netflix standard, due to a small loyalty discount. We live on netflix so I equate that broadband cost to $72 a month which is close enough to other providers, or so I thought. The initial signup offers on others to get a few free months probably take them a bit lower, if I was prepared to make the switch.

So I am now looking, but comparing broadband deals is just painful.

      • Likewise. I’m paying $85 ($90-$5 loyalty credit) for 300mbps fibre + Netflix which is comparable, if not cheaper than other providers if i were to get Netflix separately.

        • Depends how far you are willing to go to pay best price, Netflix you can get a turkish giftcard and use a VPN to be paying ~$8/mo for Standard.

2degrees 300/100 $62/mo(can get an additional $5/mo off if you link a supergold card) via broadbandcompare for 12/mo term(then switch or negotiate a better offer than the higher plan cost).

So you could be paying $70/mo with Netflix and 6 months of Prime Video assuming you can do the VPN stuff yourself or $65/mo with supergold.

      • +1

use a site like glimp or broadbandcompare to see whats available

        • No one should be paying more than $65 for fibre and 62 ish for VDSL. that is if you can be bothered changing supplier every year :)

          • @jackvdbuk: We change every 12 months and its normally cheaper than that because of joining incentives etc

    • No one uses Spark for the low prices. Some customers have been customers since it was called the Post Office, so they don't worry about the price increases.
