Best upgrade that RAM asap, 8GB won't get you far these days.

    • i have a laptop with same specs and 8gb was fine for me
but i did sell the 8gb stick and upgrade to a duel channel 2x8gb 3200mhz set

We bought one of these ASUS TUF laptops a couple of years ago and the 48 Wh battery is woefully under powered. The computer only lasted for 2 or 3 hours.
I had to upgrade to a 90 Wh battery (which voided the warranty because it is a non standard battery for that laptop). although now we had 9 hours of battery life

the computer itself is great though

      • battery is ok if you don't use the gpu and set it to use only the intel hd

If you want to run games with it then that's not really practical.

          • @mpc: Agreed
Also, the whole point was to have the processing split between CPU and GPU. Otherwise we would have bought a cheaper laptop with no GPU.

  • I remember a bunch of dell g5s that would melt the glue that kept some of the display assembly together and would just fall apart. Im always hesitant about high thermal output stuff in cheap computers.

    • it isnt always the high thermal output, sometimes it can be just manufacturers cutting corners and cheaping out on certain components. I worked at a laptop repair place and we had heaps of cheap HP retail tablets come in because the hinge mechanism was flexing the plastic casing so often throughout its use, it would eventually snap it off the LCD panel and ruin your casing and unable to open properly. HP repaired those under warranty because it was such a common issue

$1300 is not a good deal for this configuration.
