Ours was installed as part of our house build but it can be DIY'd - just depends on how handy you are.
It does feel a bit different initially in the shower, as in with the dome it can be a little more claustrophobic but I don't notice at all.
The other bonus I found is that I actually turn the temperature down a bit in the shower as it feels hotter without the heat escaping.It sounds gimmicky but it does work really well.
