How to ReVanced?

Just have a look at ReVanced, https://github.com/revanced, can anyone explain and simplified the steps for how to use this? 😂

I have an early morning but I'll try to give a quick overview.

I'll assume you already know how to install modded apks etc. This is only slightly different as the team cannot host the youtube apk due to dmca.

What this means is the revanced mod is actually a patch installed over the official and not an installable apk. At least if you don't just download an installable apk (pre-patched) which you can do, but I don't and haven't tried. If you do, get it from mobilisim, a trustworthy source.

There has been a release of a manager not too long ago. It is still in alpha but has minimal problems in my experience.

Rather than give you the full history, I'll just tell you what you should know instead.

You won't be following this as instructions, there are guides for that. This is just to give some context and understanding as to why you are doing what you are being told to do. Also, it is understandable why you feel it is a confusing installation as the guides are kind of all over the place and there isn't one definitive edition yet. Everyone just has a couple floating around everywhere.

First, you need the manager, to make the patch.
Second, you need MicroG. This is for linking your Google account to be able to log in. This is unrelated to revanced and is not developed by the team. (It is a tool utilised for the patch)
Third, you need a supported version of youtube in apk non bundled format. You will not install this. (this is your source file to which changes will be made to).
Find all the links in one of the guides.

Once you have all three, open the manager, and go to patch. It will show you a list of options. Youtube, reddit, twitter, etc. These are all apps you have installed on your device already. You can open the youtube one to see what the recommended version is. It is xx.xx.40 off the top of my head. Do not try to patch your pre-existing one. It is likely not the correct version as the supported ones are always a bit behind and it is not the method for other unknown reasons. Go back after you take a look around. Now on the bottom right hand side you will see a button named folder. Click this and find and select the downloaded youtube apk you downloaded. Select that as the one to patch. You will be met with the patches. I think there are around 60 in total. Pre-selected are the recommended patches. I think there are 48. I recommend you open the patches and individually go through them one by one to see what changes are being made and choose what you want as the recommended default ones are pretty old and outdated choices. New patches have since been released etc. Then the rest is just patch, wait, and install once done, all in the guides.

If you're just wanting to watch YouTube and or listen to SoundCloud ad free on your phone check out Newpipe.

    It's easy to install.

1.Install F-droid from the Google Play store
    2.Use F-droid to install NewPipe.

Both apps are free and open source

As well as watching ad free, you can also download videos, music and watch them later.

It also plays in the background without having to have the app open which is pretty cool.

I usually use it to download audio only (in opus format) and then use VLC to make playlists of music to listen to in the car.
