My in-laws have this machine and omg, loudest piece of machinery I've ever seen. Its like having 3 - 4 blenders all going at once.

    • What's the ice cream like

      • +3

So you pre blend all the ingredients first, then you put them in the containers and freeze overnight, they recommend at least 24hours.
Next day you put the container through the machine and the first spin its mostly always very powdery but after few cycles of spinning, it becomes ice creamy. Its just its so bloody loud - you have to see it to believe it.
Ice cream is not bad but for a $100 more you can get "compressor" type machines which you can just make ice cream without any prep work. You can just turn it on, put the ingredients in and it starts churning and voila - ice cream by the time you cook rest of the dinner. Most compressor machines used to be super expensive but now they go down to like late 300s ish.

Assuming 1 x 2L tub is $5 and it lasts us 2 weeks(assuming moderate consumption 2days/week), $286 will let you buy 56 tubs which should last 2 years.

    • Turns a chunk of frozen stuff with no gaps into ice cream, it gonna be loud!

  • I can change this to Ninja Kitchen if you want me to OP

    • Yeah sweet. I tried but it said I would need to contact a mod and I couldn't be bothered haha.

      • Done. I'll leave the description to you.

Nice idea but $285 would buy me more 2L tubs of tiptop than I would ever EVER make in a reality where I own this…

once you get a taste of the forbidden cream it's hard to go back

Fair. We've been getting real fruit ice creams regularly lately so might not take us long to break even when it's $5-$6 a cone.

Homemade ice cream is so much better than most of the stuff in supermarkets though, and you can make whatever flavour you want

Yeah, I get that in principle, but even with that being the case, the price of the machine, plus the raw ingredients plus the time and effort required to make the ice cream just doesn’t add up to a good enough cost/benefit ratio value in my view. Even at say max $15 bucks per tub for the “luxury” brands like Duck Island, Lewis Road, Haagen Dazs or even Ben & Jerry’s, I’d be able to buy 19 of those for the cost of this machine alone. I would suggest for many cheapies impulse buyers (or am I the only one? 🤔), that that number would be probably be double the number of times it would actually get used. It’s absolutely an each to their own thing though, I get that, and I’m sure it’d be used heaps by the right people who get it. (Any of you who do should feel free to pm me for my address to cold-courier me some and show me just how wrong I am and how much I’m missing out…)
