  • Extra Large returns!
It's been a while since this was available.

Since the plans don't stack I second that it may be worth waiting for 50% off or b1g1f if you can - otherwise you loose your anything remaining on your existing plan when you take advantage of the 50% off or b1g1f as the voucher replaces your plan.

The birthday b1g1f is a good date to have your yearly plan renewing on (Mid-August?) as it seems pretty consistent, have been with Kogan since they launched.

  • Is it possible to buy a second plan, and use it for data only? Can you do that on an iPhone?

    • +1

I think you'd need to use a second sim card. If you add a new plan to your existing Kogan account it just replaces the one you have now. I don't know if iPhones have 2 sim card slots or not.

      • +1

You can do an e-sim which most of the newer iPhones support and so does Vodafone. Not sure if they make that tech available to Kogan

        • +2

Kogan NZ doesn't do eSIM so you need to have a second SIM slot.
eSIM is available on Kogan Australia just not for us.

As to whether your iPhone can take another SIM it will depend on the model.

    • +1

Yup. I personally use 2degrees e-sim, and use the Kogan physical sim for data only. Just make sure your iPhone is compatible with your network provider (I think XS/XR or newer is the minimum)

    • As others have said, if you have two slots to run dual sim, you can do this. I'm doing this currently.

  • how do we stop plan renewing? doesnt seem to be an option to remove credit card anymore

and what happens if you run out of data? just no internet until the monthly rollover?

    • +2

You can stop auto renew, it's just not obvious.
When you login look for a box with '…' in it. It's on the right side of the screen on both mobile and computer.
Click that and you should see the option to disable auto renew.

If you run out of data then you will lose internet access until your new month renews.

      • Thanks!

Are you sure you want to disable automatic renewal and payment for this Prepay Plan?
Once your Prepay Plan has expired, you will no longer be able to use data, make calls, or send text messages, until you purchase a Prepay Plan again.

  • Nice addition but wish they'd bring the monthly plans here like they have in AU e.g. $25 for 40GB/month.

Has anyone currently on Kogan has an issue where your phone randomly stops receiving calls and texts, and requires a restart to fix?
Not sure if it's a phone or Kogan issue

    • Never had this issue. Sounds more like a device issue.
