Amazon Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen, Charcoal & Glacier White) $119 @ Noel Leeming ($101.15 via Price Guarantee at Bunnings)

110

Full credit to *Peter Wyngarde again.

The Alexa deals continue with Noel Leeming although this one is valid until the 24th Dec rather than just for the day.
Bunnings price currently:

  • $137 for Charcoal
  • $133.99 for Glacier White
This would be $101.15 using the 15% price guarantee.

  • Note: The Glacier White is not a special order line at Bunnings but seems to be out of stock for the few stores I tested.

    $117.00 at Noel Leeming.

$99.45 at Bunnings with 15% off.

    • Updated with new pricing.
      Thanks.

      • I was close to buying one during Black Friday when the lowest price was $124.00/$105.40.

There wasn't much stock then and even less now. There was only one or two in stock at local Bunnings stores.

There doesn't seem to be any store with stock of Glacier White all the way around Auckland up to Rotorua.

As for Charcoal, Silverdale is possibly your only option around Auckland up to Rotorua unless they get more stock although I'd still call before visiting in case their 'in stock' is wrong. Westgate, Constellation Drive and Mt Roskill show low stock but I'm fairly sure Westgate and Constellation Drive don't have any stock.

I first visited Westgate (I live nearby and was also going to Pak'n'Save for petrol so didn't bother to check stock) and found they had none in their security cabinet. Also no Echo Show 5s. I also looked behind the service counter where they have some Echo Dots and other smart home devices myself and then asked and they also looked and then one of the staff said they sold their last one earlier in the day. (This was about 1430.)

I then called Glenfield who were also showing low stock and thankfully the staff member found the last one and put it aside for me so got one. I checked myself and confirmed no Show 5 or Show 8s remaining in the security cabinet that I could see. Weirdly the Show 5 says it's in stock (i.e. not low stock) on their website. Don't know if these were hidden somewhere, in their stock rooms or just missing stock.

While there, decided to visit Constellation Drive, didn't really want another one but decided to take a look and was also interested in looking for some clearance items. They seem to have even removed the pricing labels both for Show 5s and Show 8 unless they've put them somewhere very weird but they had Echo Dots and Echos there plus there was a demo Echo Show 5 on the demo area. (Well I didn't look that well but maybe the older stickers were still there.) Didn't bother to ask since I didn't want another.

Haven't checked out Mt Roskill myself.

@Nil Einne: As an alternative to hunting around you could try price beat via their online orders since they seem to be happy to sell both the Charcoal and Glacier White via delivery so it seems to me their price policy should apply https://www.bunnings.co.nz/policies/price-policy . Although quite a few days, might be better to call than to email especially since who knows when they might go out of stock for delivery or they will just update their price so you can no longer beat. Dunno how busy their line is but assume you can get through if you try enough. Will have to pay the extra $7 for delivery still it might be better than hunting around during Christmas and especially if you want more than one or want an Echo Show 5 or whatever. Mind you I don't actually know how Bunnings delivery works. Do they just hunt around all their stores for ones with stock or they have a warehouse with additional stock of some items?

            • @Nil Einne: That's another excellent comment!

Last year I missed the Echo Show 8 for $109 = $139 - $20 - $10 at Noel Leeming. Don't mind waiting a bit longer for lower price.

I traded the Echo Show 5 at $29 for Google Nest Hub which I prefer. Though the last week it's started to misbehave and casting is problematic with some apps.

          • @Nil Einne: That's an excellent comment!

There's no stock of Charcoal where I'm located.

I would've bought at Noel Leeming via TheMarket for $99 = $119 - $20 but they removed all Amazon products before Black Friday.

      • The pricing has reverted to $119. I'm guessing it's because PB Tech had a lower price during the VIP Shopping Night.

        • Changed. Thanks.

          • @bigcheese: $118 at Bunnings for both.

            • @Peter Wyngarde: They must have had a few price guarantee's go through to have dropped the price to be better than Noels.
I'll expire this deal now as it's no longer the cheapest.

Feel free anyone to post the Bunnings price as a new deal.

              • @bigcheese: $109.00 at Noel Leeming.

$92.65 at Bunnings with 15% off.

                • @Peter Wyngarde: Dang, funnily enough for unrelated reasons I still haven't opened my Show 8 so in theory could return it. Wonder if they'll let me return it & buy it straight away? Not sure if I can be bothered trying Silverdale.

BTW the Show 5 is also down to $62. (Opened mine the first day so can't return that.)

Dot 3rd gen still not down to previous low though. Dot 4th generation is actually at a low not yet matched by Bunnings at least with their online price but with the 2nd gen still cheaper not surprising it's been ignored I guess.

                  • @Nil Einne: Reminds me when the retailers set buy limits with no real barriers to circumventing. Noel Leeming set a limit of one unit per order so I ordered three units with three orders. Selected three different stores for Click & Collect as precaution to overzealous staff member.

I'm expecting a Noel Leeming birthday coupon ($20 off $100 spend) this week and I received a $20 gift card so might buy there assuming no Bunnings stock locally. Checking the Bunnings website there's more stock available (more so white) around the country.

Prefer the Echo Show 8 over Echo Show 5 and already purchased three Echo Dot 4th Generation for $29 each but had to get one of each colour. Might be interested in Echo Dot 3rd Generation to stereo pair but assuming available $20 or less.

                    • @Peter Wyngarde: I thought $38 Noel Leeming (or $32.30 price matched at Bunnings) was best price for the 4th gen, I'd read about but forgot that there was $29 deal when spending $50 including multiple. (And since it wasn't just a price drop, wasn't picked up by PriceSpy.)

    • Seems I could have $1.70 if I'd tried to check out, oh well.

  • There's some latency in price update displaying on Noel Leeming's website. The price update is displaying on Noel Leeming's app already.

  • $108 at Bunnings for both.

    • Yeah just noticed that myself. Interesting white are now showing up as in stock in a bunch of Auckland stores

      • I'm holding out for Charcoal.

        It's encouraging Bunnings is restocking.

I'm hoping the pricing is lowest for Boxing Day.

        • Just reread your comment and realised you were talking about Bunnings having white yesterday, thought you were talking about Noel Leeming having white for some reason but they don't seem as bad as Bunnings was last week with stock levels anyway

          • @Nil Einne: There's no Charcoal at Noel Leeming locally but I could order online for Click & Collect and they'll transfer the stock.
