The package includes:

• Direct apology is being sent to millions of Frequent Flyers
• Operational performance improving, with plan in place to bring Qantas ‘back to its best’
• Frequent Flyers offered $50 towards a return flight from Australia or New Zealand
• 12 month extension of status for Silver Frequent Flyers and above
• Up to 50 per cent increase to Classic Reward seat availability extended; first release of additional seats from midday Monday

To claim your $50, you have to open the Qantas app (I did this this morning). It asks if you're in Aus/NZ, and if in NZ offers you $50 NZ dollars credit towards flights to Australia. If Aus, it offers you $50 Aus dollars international flights FROM Australia, or domestic Australia flights. Choose what suits you best.

    A lot of reports on FB that Qantas servers are overloaded. I can't even see my points balance. I'd give it a few hours.

    Neither - it sends me a 2 factor code - and when i enter it - despite having 4 mins left it says expired as out of time. Great site..

  So they are struggling with lack of staff and high passenger volumes. In response they give out vouchers incouraging people to book flights.

  I got the email this morning - sort of annoying to have to install the app to claim it even then to use it on the web - which we know has value to them in installing it. No gift without catches it seems.
