  • Hi All,

Does anyone know what the difference is, between the 'superglue' on this deal from M10, and the eight-packs for $2 that you see in the 'Dollar Shops'?

I have previously bought the eight-packs because I find that given the gap between uses, the opened tubes are gummed up / hardened, so you have to throw them out, but if they only cost 25c, then I accept that (wouldn't say, 'happy' though), but is this deal from M10 somehow better / different altogether?

    Thanks,

    Alan.

    • I have not used them, but I wouldn't pay $2 for 3g of superglue (the deal posted here). I cleared the shelves of Bunnings when another brand were on clearance for 5c for a pack of 2x3g. Still going through the lot…haha

Historically when I used cheap unbranded stuff on metal Warhammer models the cheap stuff would go brittle and had the potential to crack and snap.
      That's my experience

      • Mostly I would be fixing kids toys (or just things around the house), so probably similar to your Warhammer stuff (unless you are referring to antique / collector's items which would be quite different), but I haven't seen it going brittle ever.

Nothing really important or valuable though.

If I see a deal like the one that akrotohur mentioned, I'll buy up big time :-)

        • For plastics I used https://www.amazon.com/Tamiya-TAM87012-Plastic-Cement-20ml/d… as it actually fused the plastics together.
I guess it depends on the application.
I ended up never buying the expensive superglue, but wasn't the cheapest either, could have been the specific one I tried, too long ago to remember.

For fixing plastic toys etc I'd always recommend 2 part epoxy over superglue, practically never fails, more tolerant of high heat, etc. Superglue I consider a temporary fix, epoxy is permanent.

Plus, 2 part epoxy lasts years in storage, superglue often hardens once you open one of those tubes so they're usually single use, so it becomes quite a false economy to buy small tubes of superglue.

If you're dead set on superglue, cheapest option is a bottle of it with a good lid.

          • @SrsSarcasM: The 2 part mixture also makes it less likely that you'll glue your fingers together

    • In my experience the glue on offer at M10 lasts much longer in the tube than the $2 shop stuff. Also has a better hold. I wont go back to the cheap stuff.
