  • are these hard to install?

That's a difficult question to answer. If you know how to do it and what you're doing it's very easy. Generally if you have to ask such a question you may need to pay someone to do it for you or ask a friend that has some knowledge to help.

      • Fair enough. I have some knowledge of electronics but yeah, might watch a YT video and see what I think :)

    • I'm no expert, but good to check the wiring and installation setup of your current speakers (make sure your current speakers and these JVC speakers use the same screw holes for example).

Replaced the speakers in my corolla a few years back as one had blown (6x9's in frount, 6's in the back).

      Fairly involved.

The stock speaker's were riveted on, so had to drill out the rivets to remove. They also used a non standard mounting pattern, so I had to make a bracket to mount them. (I brought a nylon bread board's, and a cheap jigsaw from the warehouse and cut out appropriate shapes).

If you are handy with tools, it is unlikely to be an issue, but on my car it was far from a plug and play install.

On the plus side, the sound was clearly improved.

  • Would you see a noticable improvement over most standard car speakers? My car is a Mazda 6 for example

I wouldn't bother to be honest. You'll probably find the factory speakers aren't too bad and install might be a pain. Unless you don't like the current sound anyway.

Thought would help as used do car audio for a living. 5 inch speakers are not common. Often in rear doors Subarus, some euros. Often never in the rear parcel trays sadans. Front doors likely to be 6inch/6&1/2 inch.

Installs could be super easy once you get door cards off. These neodymium magnets so small in size.

Most important, make sure you sealed around them if gaps around mounting holes. You can buy spacers too. Few layers duct tape better than nothing.

Hope helps someone on Cheapies. Love this site!
    Keep kind!

  • Been quite a few good deals with SCA this weekend - car ramps for $64.95 shipped. Good for oil changes if you don't want to buy jack stands

    • What ones did you get? I can't find any ramps that cheap, unless you're meaning the caravan levellers?

      • +1

Yeah sorry I meant the levelers

        • Sweet as. I might invest in some….always fun holding the car up with scrap wood whenever I need to get under it…

          • +1

@itakestime: That's exactly why I did it, got them today, just gives another 12cm or so height, and nice and easy to get the car onto

  • Thanks, bought some on the weekend.
