had been there on Thursday but was no fuel. Waste of time.

    • You mean they were out of fuel?

        yup at 7:30 pm

    • It happens quite often there now, its quite frustrating.

  • Pak n save fuel porirua is 2.77 before discount for 91 if anyone's out this way. Can get another 6 cents off if you buy anything at pak n save.

  • I always found BP Te Kuiti to be the cheapest for me 95 Octane, always fill there when I go to do my property inspection in Palmy. Around $3.15/L and 2x points on my Amex card as well as Qantas FF points conversion via AA

  • Anyone heard of McKeown fuel? I’m currently travelling in the South Island via Twizel and Te Anau and found out that their prices are way cheaper than the others. Quelle surprise!

This is just standard now. Not discounted. Majority of sites dropping tomorrow.

I agree with @Sharetank Dude above. I believe this drop in price is a reaction to the government's announcement today that the petrol excise duty will extend into end of January 2023 (was supposed to end mid August next month).

I think gas distributors are a little more comfortable loosening their prices a little for the time being. We might see further drops in coming weeks so there's no need to rush out to fill up today. There's going to be a floor cap they drop down to as they compete with each other but eventually prices will rise again towards that January deadline.(assuming the war still ongoing at that time)

    Relax my fellow cheapies!

Think you are miles wrong, has nothing to do with local forces, the global crude oil price has dropped 15-20% in the last month. That's now being realised here at the pump.

Yeeeah I have no idea how you come up with that the governments extension impacts the setting of fuel prices from petrol companies.
Can you please explain your thinking?

Any Sharetank users see Z's 91 pump price at 2.88/L within 30km radius of your home but Sharetank searching it at 2.94/L?

    • Showing as 2.869 on the z app for me from South Wellington.

    • Is the 2.88 you're thinking including the 6c off at FlyBuys? The Sharetank price is excluding all discounts

  • A massive drop just this morning from one of my local stores. $2.70 at the pump NPD in Nelson. The next cheapest is a Z at $2.76.

  • New World Te Rapa (Hamilton) is $2.67 according to Gaspy. A few others are in the $2 70 range.

  • Anyone knows why Z is much cheaper today in Auckland at least? Any promotion or is it good time to top up the share tank?

    • Z (and Caltex) took 15cents off the pump price last night nationwide. They were first and then everyone else followed this morning. Not a promotion - just reflects the lowering oil prices

      • Except Gull, just checked and local Gull is still $3.08. :(, I miss the days where Gull was consistently 5-10c cheaper than the rest.
