Domino's Now charging delivery fee on top of their delivery charges 🤣

Next year marks 20 years since Domino's first opened its doors in New Zealand.

We are incredibly proud that we have built not just a business, but a family. Most of our Domino’s stores are owned and operated by passionate members of your local communities.

They live and work right alongside you, provide employment opportunities for thousands of people, support fellow local businesses, schools, sporting clubs and charities, and are passionate about delivering delicious, great value pizzas every day of the week.

But, like you, they are not immune to the rapidly rising cost pressures now affecting all our daily lives.

That’s why, from today, we are introducing a Delivery Service Fee.

We have held off introducing this for as long as we could even as it has become standard in our industry, but this small fee will help our local Domino’s store owners cover the cost of operating a delivery business in the current environment and allow them to continue to provide the great delivery service you know and love.

This means that a 6% Delivery Service Fee will now be applied to all online delivery orders.

This amount, which will vary based on your order total, will be clearly shown before you confirm your purchase.

This fee does not apply to pick up orders and will not change our commitment to offering delicious pizzas and the best value in town.

We look forward to serving you.

Yours in pizza,
Domino’s

  • So its ( ( ( Pizza + Delivery Charge ) x Delivery Fee 6% ) x GST 15% )

Your equation doesn't factor in the size reduction or the quality drop (less ingredients too)

        Apologies - here you are:

        ( ( ( ( ( Pizza + Delivery Charge ) x Size Reduction Factor ) x Quality Reduction Factor ) x Delivery Fee 6% ) x GST 15% )

Of course, we could expand out the Pizza itself:

        ( ( ( ( ( ( Pizza Cost + Pizza Margin ) + Delivery Charge ) x Size Reduction Factor ) x Quality Reduction Factor ) x Delivery Fee 6% ) x GST 15% )

and then split the cost into three broad categories:

        ( ( ( ( ( ( ( Pizza Materials Cost + Pizza Labour Cost + Pizza Overheads ) + Pizza Margin ) + Delivery Charge ) x Size Reduction Factor ) x Quality Reduction Factor ) x Delivery Fee 6% ) x GST 15% )

I'd go further, but I don't want to test the boundaries of where it becomes a bit silly :-)

    • I totally get increasing prices due to increasing costs etc etc, but I find it a little weird to have a delivery charge and a delivery fee.
That being said I have been unable to use Domino's delivery for years since they decided we now live too far away…lol

Yup exactly, wait for pizza hut to follow as well as others.

This is why I hate delivery fee's included in the price, Ideally pizza should be the same price as pickup and separate out the delivery fee

  • The amount of people who have always told me "let's get dominos they don't charge delivery fees" that I have to then proceed to show it's $6 on the first pizza and 50c on subsequent pizza for deliveries always shocked me

whats up with the service fee.. why is it extra any % for additional pizzas. should just be a flat fee, increase that flat fee if you have to. these places aren't even paying their staff more and basically the extra service fees they've been adding aren't even going towards staffs tips. not that i believe in the tips system like the Americans have as it has its own problems.

    • This:

'why is it extra any % for additional pizzas'

      is extremely off-putting…

If only people will boycott companies, etc and stop buying, but most people will just accept the charges.
