    • Yes but cheaper, that’s too expensive 😅

  • For what you’re wanting I don’t think you’re going to get much cheaper than what @akrotohur has recommended.
It’s great bring a Cheapie - but what you buy actually needs to do the job.

How much were you expecting go to pay?

  • I bought one from ALDI in Australia, I'm sure it's just this one rebranded from the same factory: https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/p/living-co-carpet-washer/R21…

It seems to be out of stock almost everywhere, but there is still stock in at least a couple of stores scattered across the country if you're lucky.

Out of the box, it sucks. As in badly. But I found it actually managed a pretty decent (if slow) job with a bit of weight applied to the front of the head where it sucks up the water and dirt. I jerry rigged up about 3-4kg of weight applied evenly over the front and it sucked much better!

If you do manage to buy one, I also recommend vacuuming beforehand REALLY well, and wear ear muffs and a dust mask. It is LOUD and has no fine dust filter, so it kicks up a surprising amount of dust in spite of the water it sucks up. And every time you refill the water tank (which will be a lot) clear the lint filter (which as noted is not a dust filter, it's just a small square off very porous foam.

Alternatively, check out past forum posts and deals for other ideas (you'll see my other recommendation is the Ozito wet/dry vac, but it's not a carpet cleaner, only really good for spot cleaning):

    • Hi. Thanks for your reply

I looked at carpet cleaner and a good one costs about $200

I guess I’ll stick to spot cleaner for now. Would you recommend ozito or the latest one listed on cheapies would do same. We are on a tight budget as we are moving homes

      • You could get the ToolPro one of you're on a really tight budget, but if you want something that's more versatile and don't mind spending a bit more I'd go for the 20L Ozito.

Also remember that a some places (supermarkets, etc) hire out carpet cleaners, if you only need it for the move-out cleanup then perhaps this will be a better option.

      • Those are not designed for cleaning in my opinion.
You will be left with wet carpets.

I used ozito one (and still have it) to get water out of carpet and it sucked some up, then went over it again with bissell spot cleaner and it sucked up the remaining.

I've used the big green machine from the warehouse, it ended up costing like $39, worked well and easy to clean up, you can pay extra to get a hand held hose etc to do stairs and couches

        • Which bissell spot cleaner (profession $300 vs turbo $450) and which ozito (12L vs 20L) were you comparing?

I've seen a few posts that state the ozito 20L from bunnings is better at sucking the water out of the carpet than the bissell spot cleaner, and you are better just scrubbing in a stain remover then sucking the water up with the ozito?

We have a 2yo and a 4mo old so we are experiencing a few spills and accidents.

          • @kiwijunglist: Pro vs 12L
12L v 20L v 35L have the same power on the motor, unsure what other differences there might be tho

            • @Foodie: I've read posts darling that the 12L version didn't have any suction. From memory I think they were suggesting the 20L was better, but is have to double check.

  • If you are constantly going to have to clean small stains a spotclean might make sense but you can easily get the same result with a shop vac.
