Alternatives and Best Prices for Bissel Spotclean?

I have a fully carpeted house, a toddler and 3 indoor dogs a wet vacuum has been an essential household appliance for us to clean up accidents and wet messes.

However the pet Vax we bought 2nd hand is suffering from wear and tear over 8 years of regular use as a wet vac, and I can't seem to get parts for it any more.

Looking for alternatives the only thing I've found so far for pet messes seems to be the various models of bissell spotclean. I'm sure it's a great machine, but surely there must be other options and alternatives too?

  • Hello,

What's your budget? Because I've got the Bissell 2066F and I don't regret it one bit.
The whole thing is great because it has a big hose where you can do the spot cleans and then big areas when required.

If you can wait long enough then you may find it cheaper. Otherwise, the spot cleaners are awesome. Any of them, to be honest - I've used a couple of different models and it was insane. Was travelling last month and one of the friends of my girl threw up inside our van and I used the spot cleaner in the house, not a trace.

    • Thanks for that, only looking for a little unit for messes/spills rather than any big areas but good to hear about first hand experiences. I just find it bizarre that Bissel seems to have a monopoly since I can't find any alternative options on the market. Even the Vax brand don't seem to have a similar machine to mine any more.

      • I used a friend's Wertheim cleaner a while ago before getting the Bissell and it did a pretty decent job (I used the rug doctor shampoo and it was awesome) but it missed out on having the upholstery attachments and I found that I do need a bigger one but still have the ability to clean furniture, mattresses and stairs/spots. So this does the whole thing.

The small ones, I find… No matter which one, they all do an amazing job. However, you have to use hot water. Cold water does nothing. Husband forgot about it once and just had a wet stain.

  • I have just brought the Bissell spot clean turbo, I needed one that would cope with thick Rhino carpet. I am very happy with it. Did a bit of research and found there are a lot of supply issues and the usual different stores have slightly different models. Some of the smaller ones did not seem to have enough power so opted for the more expensive one. Godfreys was cheaper than anywhere I found and I was able to try it on a sample of my carpet instore which was what sold me, when asked they threw in a 1 L bottle of shampoo as well

    • That's a good deal! Given it comes with a small bottle, it's always good to get an extra one as a freebie.

I agree that Bissell seems to have a monopoly, but their items are built to last. And depending on the model you buy, you can get extra warranty registering online. Mine didn't :(

  • bought a spotclean last year to clean up patches made by babies in a fully carpeted house but leaning towards buying the upright model so i can regularly clean the carpet in wider areas.
it seems like no matter how often you vacuum your carpet small/fine dirt seems to build up so easily in carpet

  • There’s an another version of the spotclean turbo at supercheap. Reasonably priced today with the club discount - https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/bissell-bissell-spotclean…

The attachments looks similar? Not sure if it comes with all the attachments as the other ones available at Harvey Norman etc.

Have been looking at something similar as well, but not sure what size to get. Only got two kids under 5. Tempted by the proheat version but don’t think we need it.. although house is mostly carpet.

    • Looks like the only tool missing from this particular model (compared to the others) is the 3 inch tough stain tool.
