60

Reddit user no-pun-in-ten-did has highlighted that Energy Hero is the cheapest LPG gas provider in the Christchurch and Kaiapoi area:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1y8l_TQibzpMRuVddD55n…

$99.00 each delivered with annual rental of 2 bottles at $96.00 with no contract ($4 monthly rental paid on delivery x2)

Minimum purchase amount described on page only applies to the first order as seen in the thread:

Company HQ appears to be a Caltex petrol station with a similar logo?

Matagas in Auckland is doing $100 per swap, but the rental is $120/year

  • LPG4u is another good option, rental is $50 per/y per bottle, but you get the first year free.
Deliveries are $105, so a little more than energy hero, but unless you use heaps it'll be cheaper first year due to no rental fee.

  • Anyone got an idea of the cheapest providers in the Wairarapa, as some of the prices I have been quoted are very high here. Rockgas seems to be one of the cheapest but expensive compared to these prices. Can't believe there isn't a website comparing the prices, similar to powerswitch.

    • This is the best comparison page I could find when I was looking https://thatpowerguy.nz/gas/bottled-lpg-price-comparison/, 2018 data though but some of the comments are more recent.
I'm with Rockgas (Dunedin) but their prices are going up from $116 per bottle to $127 on 1 Dec and rental from $57.5 per bottle to $64.40 on 1 March. Having gas with Contact\Rockgas gives me $5 off my internet per month, but the increase seems to than cancel that out :(

  • Man, I pay around $35 to fill my 9KG bottle (LPG stove) at the petrol station.

Although that lasts us like 3-4 months so probably wouldn't save any money after the annual rental cost.

    • Where? That's swap a bottle prices everywhere I've seen. A refill should be around $26.

      • Where? I refilled @ Caltex New Lynn (Auckland) for $30, prices have gone up, used to be $26, then $28. Matagas in Onehunga and Manukau are doing $24, but too far away.

      • Caltex Browns Bay. Pretty consistent every three months or so for the last few years.

End of the day, though it's not really a huge drama. Like 2 bucks a month difference, I value my time more than driving somewhere further away.
