    FYI https://electricrider.co.nz/shop/kickscooter-es4/

PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE WARRANTY ISSUES WITH NINEBOT ES2 AND NINEBOT ES4 ELECTRIC SCOOTERS AND PARTICULARLY THE NINEBOT ES4 WITH MANY OVERHEAT, MELTED CABLES AND FAILED CONTROL BOARD ISSUES. AT THIS STAGE WE DO NOT PLAN TO RE INTRODUCE NINEBOT ELECTRIC SCOOTERS.

TO DATE, NINEBOT ELECTRIC SCOOTERS ARE THE ONLY BRAND OF SCOOTER WE HAVE EXPERIENCED FAILED MOTORS.

    • That would explain why they're so cheap! Nice find

Talking to a Flamingo Mechanic he said
For the price its reasonable buy two and if one breaks use it as parts
"The first gen ones always broke that is why we got rid of them in our flagship city Wellington fast" - Ninebot ES 4 "SNSC 1.0"
"Our current generation are SOOO much better they hardly need maintenance just the usual brake adjustments and cleaning. -Ninebot Max "SNSC 2.0"

Deal for Wellington people Ninebot Maxes from Beam not many left last i went there.

What's better than 1 broken scooter?? two broken scooters.

          What a salesman

          • @justaddwater: I have owned the Beam ones they are fine with low Kms due to Lockdown.
            I dont work for them.
Dunno why you need to be a sarcastic dick for no real reason
People were pointing out the massive flaws with the Flamingos.

    • thanks for posting this up. was waiting for comments before my sister went ahead and bought one. with all the use they have had I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't last a long time after purchase

    • Do be careful with this because I have seen a scooter catch on fire while someone was riding one!

Just want to emphasize for everyone. Op stated it but just ensure. Pick up in Christchurch only. Do not select "Ship" Delivery Method.

  • I owned one of these - had to get it repaired under warranty twice - when warranty was over the cost of repairs was just not worth it.
The site I purchased it off actually suggested not to use top speed etc to help it last (that is: under the CGA, not really fit for purpose).

Having said that, if you get 6 months out of it, $160 isn't bad.

  • So can someone please confirm, these are good to go at the moment? So will work, at least for the time being? Just a bit confused by suitable for parts. Thanks heaps all :)

    • I would say that is their way of getting out of any responsibility for ongoing/short term failures

      • I think it's more to avoid getting accused of producing environmentally harmful junk, so they spread the risk…haha

  • Are they still good for the $160? When they say "good for parts" I'm still assuming we can use them until they 'die' ?

    • +1

They could be nearly dead already…

Data showed that rental scooters only lasted 29 days on average:https://finance.yahoo.com/news/shared-scooters-don-t-last-171119677.html
Being left out in the rain, being knocked around, and being handled by people who don't own them isn't good for electronic devices.

    • You can guarantee these things have been put through a wide range of abuse lol

Update: I've been using them since 24/09 and other than the cosmetic blemishes, these are insanely good value even at $200! I know because I've been looking at ES4 for a while and even though some have had issues, my flatmates had 2 of these without issues. I've used it every day since I bought this without issues. They have the S mode where the acceleration is even quicker than the ones you find on the road. Range has been better than expected where I highly doubt they are using the original batteries. Also, if you download ninebot app, you can see how many kms your bike has done which most probalby won't be many despite it looking munted af..
