  • Does anybody own this particular model? How is it like?

I've tried a laptop with similar hardware specs, and it feels slow and weak compared to a regular Windows laptop.
It has only 4gb RAM which struggles to keep up with normal activites like switching between applications or browsing with more than a few tabs open. It also only has 64GB of storage, a big chunk of which is used by Windows itself (though you can add a microSD card in the dedicated slot). The type of storage, eMMc, is about half the speed of the SSD storage in other models.
On the plus side, the Wifi is very fast and the screen quality and battery life get good reviews.

      • Yes this is a cheap laptop designed to run Surface Go Windows S and to run their own apps from the store which are lighter programs. But you can still obviously put the full version of Windows 10 which uses more space and more ram. Probably a marketing ploy to compete with Google Chrome.

    • I talked to a student just prior to lockdown about the Go. He was adamant it was the best in the price range for his needs. Loved the size, solid build and was good enough for general school use.

no experience, For 120$ more i would get this model with double the ram/hdd

      • Recommend this as well. Mate of mine just bought one and he's pretty happy with it. Can't get much more from something in this price range.

  • Yeah nah 4GB of RAM is far too little these days, would have 8GB as min.

  • it is quite expensive for a laptop with just 4GB of RAM, it will be slow

  • Rubbish

  • You can upgrade ssd on the 128gb model. 64gb base model can't be upgraded.

  • 64GB eMMc (NOT an ssd) will be incredibly slow, and 4GB isn't enough to do anything these days. This is basically landfill fodder.

    • It's really designed to run off web based software, OneDrive for example or in a school situation, a server where most of the processing and storage is done for it.
