[Unobtainable deal] PBTech Live stream code ( Store Credit)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Just checked PBTech's live stream and the coupon code gave me nearly $98 worth of store credit.
Applied to a Xiaomi Powerbank and TP Link network switch.

Not sure when it expires.

edit: Marked as cancelled/expired as others had no success.

Mod: Thread archived to preserve discussion and moved to forums as it wasn't clear what the coupon did.

  • can you show me please

  • No luck here. Is it with specific items only? or maybe it's been fixed? There's no change in price of a ps4 controller before/after applying the code

Looks like it ended at 8:30, unless any were extended - and it was meant to be a sale rather than store credit: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/promotions/pbtv-livestream-en

its a sale code which only gives discount on samsung and ends tonight, also they had a competition running between 7:00pm and 8:25pm but no mention of store credit in the list of prizes.

    • The OP claims it worked on Xiaomi and TP Link products?

  • Hi hsran,

I just tried this, and it did nothing for me on a Seagate 6TB external HDD:

What specific Xiaomi Powerbank and TP Link network switch did you use it on?

    Thanks,

    Alan.

I took part in the livestream and quickly realized it's nothing more than an extended ads.
Even the price draw requires an actual purchase which is BS, typical PB tech

  • Sure you didn't already have store credit??

  • Doesn't work, delete this false advertising please.

  • From the main page of PB's website: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/promotions/pbtv-livestream-en

  • *I can't check as it won't work for me anyway.
    *I ordered two Xiaomi & TP-Link products @ 20:42.
    *Total was $266.64,amount paid $169.66.
*No I didn't had any store credit.

    • Oh so not really store credit. It gave you special prices on products that shouldn't have been included?

      • Yeah sounds like most likely thing is someone messed up the limits of the coupon code and was quickly fixed

Raise your hand if you think there's a PB tech spy/associate subscribed to Cheapies! Hi there =)

    • +1

Definetely free advertising for their non-deals.

    • +1

There are plenty of other companies spying on cheapies all the time :-) besides PBtech

  • TBF they had a few decent deals, I was looking at the S21 - $1299 to $999

    Not a PBTech spy

Sidenote - Their livestream was mega cringe, airhorns etc

    • I watched it for about 5 seconds and then switched to something else.
I am not a PBTech spy also

Update: Got an email asking to pay the difference.

"$96.98 was loaded to your account as credit, this was cause by a system error,"

Do we have a CGA complaint considering the credit wasn't a simple "sytem error" as the credit was loaded after using their provided coupon code?

    • Cheeky bastards aren't they.

    • Perhaps the question to ask is, whether, under similar circumstances, you would be able to back out of the contract you had formed with them?

If they would insist that the 'deal was done', and not allow you to cancel at all, or without at least some form of penalty (such as a re-stocking or cancellation fee), then I think you would be justified in pursuing it further.

I don't know the answer to that question myself, but others might have some relevant experiences.

      Alan.

  • Update:

Got advised by Money Talks to file a complaint with Commerce Commission.

Got accused of defrauding them by one of their sales person in an email! :(

I'll be posting from Cayman Islands in the coming weeks after moving my 97 kiwi pesos to offshore accounts.

    • I have to say that I probably wouldn't have taken it any further myself, but if they were throwing those kind of accusations around, I would probably not stop!

Complaint to the CC, and claim whatever you can think of from them that you could justify, and put it to the disputes tribunal.

Should be quite a bit of fun!
