  • Correct me if Iโ€™m wrong - but couldnโ€™t you purchase a multiple sim+top ups and apply the top up to your current skinny number?

As they should print off a top up voucher code.

    • +1

      That's how I'm seeing it as well; $12 for $20; 24/40; 36/60; 48/80; 60/100.

  • +1

I'm an existing skinny user and definitely will avail this half price offer for my existing account tomorrow.

  • +4

Iโ€™m existing too, so definitely like the sound of this promotion! Will keep you guys in the loop as to how it goes.

  • +1

Any ideas how long the top ups last until they expire? You could just activate one and refer yourself from your actual skinny account, get the $20 on there and have a second sim card each month while the top ups are valid to double your data allowance.

    • +1

Top ups last for 1 year. Thats what I do sometimes when I need more data. Refer myself

      • Are you referring to the top up receipt expiry being 1 year? Or the credit once itโ€™s on the account being 1 year?

  • Sorry to ruin the party - Skinny does have terms covering inappropriate buddy rewards usage. They do keep an eye on this and my previous rewards have been rolled back…

    • +1

What if you wait until the following month to use the next topup? Rather than all at once.
Edit Oh wait. I'm guessing you're replying to Everettpsycho?

    • Do you mind sharing how did they find out and how did you use yours

    • Hi do you have to use 2nd phone active the buddy rewards because it have to use Skinny App and there's no logout? (When you already have another skinny Sim in your phone)

  • +1

Can confirm they print they print $20 individual vouchers off - my paper vouchers have a receipt expiry of 17/03/2023 too!

Would definitely make sense to stock up!

    • +1

      Nice. Thanks for the update

      Would buy new SIM ($2) + $20 voucher = Pay $12
Can I use the $20 to recharge my existing skinny account?

Need to try a couple of combinations:
      1. Use buddy program to get additional benefit
      2. Use $20 to recharge my existing account
      3. Since one can stack 5 vouchers in an account
      4. Need to save the voucher code as the ink can fade off or paper get misplaced. If planning to save for more than a year (code expiry date is 2 years from the date of purchase)
      5. One can also transfer credits from one account to another.

      Additional benefit:
      1. Try to get additional free coffee from Starbucks and Z app using the new number. (Dual app)

I just uninstalled and logged in again by entering the mobile number and OTP received via SMS. Don't forget to copy the buddy reward code.
          1. Copy the buddy reward code
          2. Login into app using new SIM
          3. Select the plan $16 and above and recharge using any of the payment options
          4. On the dashboard section, you will be see a link for referer reward code
          5. Enter the code and you will receive additional 4GB data and referer will receive $20

My local countdown had no clue about the promotion until I went in this afternoon and asked for it… lol.

The $20 top up, only gets discounted if the $2 SIM card is scanned. So you have to get the $2 SIM cards with each top up you request.

Have added 5+ vouchers to my skinny account no issues.

Would definitely make sense to stock up and possibly move to skinny if you arenโ€™t an existing customer. They use the spark network (which is the best in my area and personal opinion) and they have a good functioning mobile app!

    • Are you an existing customer?

      • +1

Yes i am an existing customer!

    • Can sim card and top-ups be made on self-checkout?

      • Not to sure sorry mate! Sometimes the sim card's themselves are held behind the customer service area.

  • Can anyone confirm if they were able to redeem the $20 voucher in existing account and Still got $20 credit? Just making sure those vouchers are good for all accounts and not only for new accounts. Thanks

    • +2

Yes, can confirm. Have been a skinny customer for months now, and was able to redeem 5+, $20 top ups on my current skinny number.

They're just generic top-up's that people buy from dairys/supermarkets :)

  • Can anyone confirm how many sims + top up can we get in one transaction?

    • +1

I think the lady that did mine was able to do 8x top ups and 8x SIM cards in the same transaction. But she did seem a bit confused as she didnโ€™t know what she was doing.

    • I maxed out at 7 through the self-checkout. It would let me get as many sims as I wanted but it couldn't generate more than 7 top-ups in one transaction.

      • +1

Is there an option to buy top-ups at self-checkout? Never done it before so unsure.

        • Nevermind. Went and got some today through self-checkout. No issues. Had a limit of 7.

          • @Wakrak: I tested it today too.

I just grabbed a single $2 SIM pack from the shelf, went through the self-service checkout, added a Skinny $20 Topup (like adding a broccoli), and it was discounted to $10, so I paid $12 in total for the SIM and TopUp voucher.

I'll be checking service signal strength this evening / tomorrow, and if it looks okay (should be - it's Spark) I'm moving over and buying a load of vouchers tomorrow!

            Alan.

          • @Wakrak: Just try purchase from self check out also, the scale doesn't pick up the weight of the sims card and keep ask me to bagged the item, at the end I need to get the staff to assist the process

            • @doubledippps: I didn't have that issue, but it sounds like it would be common.

              • @Alan6984: It's fine for 1st sim, 2nd & 3rd & 4th sim I can skip bagging, 5th & 6th i have to get them to assist

                • @doubledippps: I've never selected that 'Skip Bagging' button - is that what its for?

Maybe I'll buy four at a time!

                  • @Alan6984: It's for items like this that are too light to register as being placed in the bagging area, but it seems that there's a limit on the number of items you can skip.

  • Has anyone tried purchasing two SIMs and two $20 top-ups at the same time?

    If so, did you pay ( $2 + $10 ) x 2 = $24 ?

    Or did it come up ( $2 x 2 ) + $10 + $20 = $34 ?

The deal is good, but it only really works if I can stock up on enough of the $20 top-ups at $10 ($12 with the SIM) to last for quite some time (I am thinking I'd need to get at least ten top-ups and preferably more in the next five days. If I can only do that one transaction at a time, and I don't want to really annoy the Countdown staff asking them to do them all separately at once, then it will take multiple trips which seems too much hassle.

    Alan.

    • +3

Hey Alan. I purchased 8x sims + 8x $20 top ups in the same transaction. Can confirm it came to $12 every 1x top up and 1x SIM card added. Hope this helps :)

My crazy $1 Kogan deal is about to expire, so hopefully they will have another crazy deal soon mid April. The timing has always been spot on, so fingers crossed again. If not, the $5 deal is still on if I'm not mistaken.
    https://www.cheapies.nz/node/26290

    • Don't get me wrong but why and how do you guys think this is a better deal than the 5$ deal you've linked here. I for one still ๐Ÿค” think, it's pretty great, may be not as much as the $1 one but still good enough

      • I agree that the Kogan deal is pretty good too. Not sure whether it will continue though, which makes it a less certain proposition than Skinny, but if that doesn't worry you (happy to jump on whatever is the next best deal when Kogan ends) then go for it.

I have gone for the $16 per 28 days Skinny, and pre-purchased about 18 months of credit, so my monthly spend will be around $10. For me, at home, Spark (Skinny) is a good signal, whereas both Vodafone (Kogan) and 2Degrees are not so great, so I wouldn't go with Kogan myself, but you might find the opposite.

        Alan.

        • The Kogan $5 promo ends on 02/2022 and its for new users only. So new number every time? Will suit certain types of profession ahem lol. With Skinny, you keep your old number and get discounted credit.

          • @The Hound: I have a dual sim phone and I keep changing just one sim.

How much data do you guys get out of this deal?

            • @upbeat: I'm not on Skinny, but website says only 1.25GB for the $16 per month plan. Remember, some people will make thousands of calls or txts per week, so they will have to keep one number and go on a plan.

            • @upbeat: I am on the $16 plan so 1.25GB per 28 days rollover.

I anticipate that I'll accumulate data every month at that rate, but always possible I have a big month occasionally and use it all. If I foresaw that happening, it might make sense for me to sign up for a $5 Kogan plan for that month, and default my data use to them, but if I already have significant rolled over data anyway, then really not much point.

I also got a 'bonus' 5GB when I transferred over to Skinny, and I think I saw something to say I'll get another 1GB (?) in a few months if still with them.

Just did 5 Sims + 5 $20 tops on the same transaction with total of $60. Actually, if you can see the checkout screen, when both sim + $20 top is added, system automatically deducts $10 from the total. So as long as you have same amount of sim + topup it should all be fine. Not sure on the limit of sims you can buy per transaction.

    • Hi do you buy top up thru counter or customer service or self self checkout? Did you just tell them u want 5x$20 top up?

      • Just picked up all the sims from the counter and went to checkout and told the clerk to give me $20 topup for each sim. All in 1 transaction. No issues at all. Haven't tried self checkout as not sure on how to get topup and again clerk can do it faster lol.

  • Just bought 1 and voucher expired 17/03/23, that mean I can keep the voucher for 2 years?

  • Just an odd question - anyone have idea if skinny support esim?

      They dont

  • Thanks OP. Managed to redeem 8x $20 vouchers.

  • Just sold seven simcards for $5 through FB ๐Ÿ˜„

      No quite that crazy!

That would have been at least three transactions at the checkouts I guess :-)
