Ah bugger should've stocked up at PNS. I typed 'mince' into the Cheapies search bar and $5-6 / kg of value mince was popular back in 2016-2018. Now $10 for prime mince seems to be a decent deal.
You didn't actually believe the bank inflation rate, did you? Food kept mostly low, prices of apples hasn't changed in 30 years. Meanwhile, as meat gets too expensive it will be replaced in the "inflation basket" with something cheaper. O! Look at that! Consumer prices are back down again!

Countdown have frozen eye fillet for $25 a kg this week, rather have that than their $24 a kg premium mince
I personally don't like Mad Butcher's Premium Beef Mince - often comes with hard bits in it or a lot more fat content than Countdown's.
paknsave did have a special last week for $9/kg but yea beef mince seems to be expensive now. i aim for around $10/kg when they have a promo.
