    • Bah, I'll keep looking, thanks for the heads up, could always get one of those Android boxes for it I guess.

      • look into the chromecast with google tv if it ever gets to NZ

Actually I find this to be a feature, not a drawback.

You can swap in a new Android TV box (or the new Chromecast) every few years with a dumb TV, but with a smart TV you're stuck with it, and updates typically stop after a few year and many apps may stop working.

  • Looks like they did almost the exact same deal last year. Disappointing they’re not doing it for the newer model this year.

  • It's using the older direct backlight tech, not the newer (local / full array), and not the expensive OLED.
For many it will be fine, but go and see if you are ok with it.

Having just bought a new HDR TV the tech is still new and can take a bit to make work. You need everything in the path to support the HDR standard that's used (HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision). The video source (disk, stream or file), the receiver (if you use one) and the TV.
This TV doesn't say it supports Dolby Vision.

  • Would this be better than the 75" veon

    • 100000% yes. I have yet to see a Veon that didn't look or sound like complete crap.
