  • Thanks
Is the 100$ off with 1000$ purchase gone?

    • Lots of coupon around that'll give the same discount amount: CYBER10, FLYBUYS10 or CYBERKW10

      • except apple products?

        • Yes, pretty sure they are excluded and also alcohol I believe.

  • Anyone able to recommend a basic cheap MasterCard for those of us whose banks only offer Visa?

    This one from Westpac perhaps?

    https://www.westpac.co.nz/bank-accounts/debit-cards/debit-ma…

    • +1

You can get one from transferwise

      • +1

That's a decent option if you make a lot of purchases in foreign currencies, but the card's no longer free and may take a bit too long to arrive (mine took ~3 weeks to arrive in February).

    • If you have airpoints you can use the built in onesmart one. $1 per month if you have money in it

You pay 1.5% loading fee, but get back $1 airpoint per $200 spend

Saves applying for another credit card just for the market deal

      https://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/onesmart

      • Ah I have one but expired in 2018. Takes 3-4 weeks for a new one to arrive.. bugger

    • I was looking forward to this deal until I realized Kiwibank switched Mastercards to Visa a wee while back.

Maybe prepaid pressie Mastercard? Like from Bonfire?
      https://www.bonfire.co.nz/how-it-works
Seems like one can buy at retail stores including supermarket, with loading&card fee $4.95.
Can also buy online but it looks like it costs more? There's like handling fee or something.
      https://www.bonfire.co.nz/Content/Images/uploaded/Bonfire%20…

Can load up anywhere from $25 to $1000
So the initial card fee can range anywhere from 19.8% to 0.495% ($25 and $1000 respectively).

Any better alternatives or any hidden fee are welcomed!

Nice find, looks like a good way to get a MasterCard quickly rather than waiting several weeks for one to arrive

      • Anyone found these in the wild? My local New World supposedly had them but the staff said they were removed (discontinued?) recently

        • Try finding a retailer on this map? https://www.bonfire.co.nz/retailers

May or may not be up to date though.

        • Looking at the map it's available in New World, Pak n Save and 4 Squares from the supermarket group, and rest are some convenience stores.

I did manage to find in my local Birkenhead New World, so they do definitely exist.

      • Off topic - can prezzie and bonfire cards be used for purchasing apps on google play? Thanks

  • Can you stack with other coupons? like cyber10 etc

  • @wakrak, this is a great offer? Where did you get it, I can't find it anywhere?

    • hmmm looks like they've removed it. Weird. I'll do a bit of digging and see what I can find. Maybe I spoiled their announcement 😄

      • you are so clever, did you just came across it accidently ;-)

        • I've got a bookmark that shows me a lot of their posts when first added to the site. Usually appear on this particular page a day or three before being plastered up everywhere else on the website. Happened with the CYBER10 and FLASHSAIL deals.

          • @Wakrak: smart :-) Did you manage to find the mastercard deal?

            • @salealert: Looks like they've updated it with 'Details coming Soon'. Unsure why they removed all of the information.

          • @Wakrak: How do i delete your comment. We don't want them to know about this! Shhhttt!

  • Can you stack with the 10% off or similar?

    • With the original $100 purchase, surely. With the e-voucher, too early to know.

    • +1

The 10% discount would expire already as this deal starts on 02/12 as per OP

  • 😟 This deal's looking a bit dicey all of a sudden. Gummoooon TM, don't make this fake news.

  • +4

    Deal is now active

    • So you need to spend $100 using a MC card to get a $30 voucher/credit towards your next purchase, or can it be redeemed against the first purchase?

      • From my understanding, it will work on the next purchase. Buy item(s) for $100+ with Mastercard, in 5 days you will have a $20/$30 coupon available for your next purchase.

    • +1

This is an awesome deal when combined with other deals like the $25 off a $99 spend in 5 days time.

  • From the wording, if my cart is $100, I use a $20 referral credit, so only $80 is charged to the MasterCard, the order will still qualify, right?

    • Yeah that part is a bit confusing eh; "Qualifying orders must be valued at a minimum of $100 before discounts". I don't have a definitive answer. More of a question for The Market but their customer service can be a bit slow.

      • The full terms and conditions of the Win $500 shopping spree state the contrary:
        https://help.themarket.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058267774-Wi…
"The transaction value must be a of minimum NZD100 after any discounts, and excludes the value of any alcohol purchased and shipping costs."

So yes very confusing - do you get the $20/$30 discount voucher if spending <$100 after discount but don't qualify for the win $500 draw?

  • I assume a debit mastercard would work fine too..

    • From the full terms and conditions of the win $500 competition https://help.themarket.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058267774-Wi…
It states that either a debit or credit mastercard.

Co-Op Bank have a mastercard and is $10 per half year. Westpac low rate is $25 per annum. Q Card, Flight Centre and Farmers all have cards (issued by same company at $25 per half year).
Westpac also have debit mastercard ($10 per year, first year free) and airpoints debit mastercard ($15 per year, first year free)

  • No expiry date on the vouchers that I can see?

    • did you receive your voucher straight away after purchase?

      • I haven't bought anything yet, but couldn't see anything in the conditions

  • +1

Anyone received their voucher yet? Did you get a email about it after your order or anything? Crickets here.

    • +3

Received my voucher. Expires on March 31st 2021.

  • So if you make multiple $100+ orders with your MasterCard, you get multiple coupons?

    • I believe so. 'Earn unlimited vouchers' … 'Each voucher is only valid for a single transaction' … 'Each qualifying order placed during the promotional period will receive a voucher'.

They all expire on the 31st of March, 2021, however.

  • Anyone confirmed you can have multiple coupons at once? I have one already and am expecting a second one to show but I'm not sure if they will appear separately.

    • Yes, I have four.

  • Hello - if, like me, you saw the deal advertised (with no starting date specified) before TheMarket thought it had gone live and bought stuff using your Mastercard in reliance on it, you should be able to ask TheMarket to manually add your vouchers.

They've manually loaded on three vouchers for me for stuff I bought during Black Friday.

    Hi,

I recently made three purchases in reliance on your pay with Mastercard promotion (currently detailed at https://themarket.com/nz/precincts/get-20-back-with-masterca…).

Details of the promotion were posted on your website in advance of me making the three purchases, but I now understand they were later removed from your website and then modified to say that the promotion begins on 7 December 2020.

Although the terms now say the promotion begins on 7 December 2020, I made otherwise-qualifying purchases prior to the amendment being notified and in reliance on the original version of the promotion.

Would you please provide the three $30 vouchers I am due without delay.
