Free deal has ended, now it's $3 Big Macs.

McDonald's were giving away 30000 free Big Macs today as part of their 30 deals in 30 days in November promotion https://www.cheapies.nz/node/25274 . A good deal after their first 2 were disappointments IMO. And this after free nuggets last week, a deal they were originally going to run in August.

If they run out, they will be $3 each. When they gave away 25000 in 2018 they ran out about 7pm although that deal started at midnight unlike this one at 10:30. So it's possible they'll run out again.

      30 Days, 30 Deals Daily offer available between 10:30am and 11:59pm only at participating restaurants or while stocks last at individual restaurants.

      where? I waited 10 seconds in Silversteam Upper Hutt, and it was a hot fresh burger. I asked for no bag so I think they just gave me the next one they made.

        I went to Riccarton mall food court McD's at around 11:30am. No wait at all… Got 2 :)

        It was at Mt Roskill. I was like 30 orders away when I ordered at the counter, after spending a fair few minutes not moving at the drive thru. Others have also reversed out of the drive thru and went inside.

    Yeah not gonna wait lol not worth it plus their app is shit and always has issues random errors telling me that i need to update the app when its got not updates..

      Probably depends on your store. At mine there was several kiosks free, and immediately after I made the order they had it ready to go. Took under a minute

        They are hoping you will come in and buy a fries drink etc as they make huge profit on those items. Get the burger no fries and get a drink from your fridge

          Yes, the staff directed me there. They have a scanner below the screen. Maybe that's not all locations though

      Same thing happened to me. Tried entering the code at the kiosk but got an error message.
      Tried to get the voucher on my phone again and it was telling me I need to update the app.
      Several other people were having the same problem and one of the Mcdonald's staff was on the phone with head office telling them there was a problem

    For every new account, you already get a bonus 4x McCafe stamps. Buy another small hot drink for another stamp to redeem a free medium coffee. So kind of BOGOF.

        App offers with a drink also qualifies for a free stamp. That is how I got mine.

    updated app, all ready for my free burger. Nope, they have added a 'root access' checker/blocker.
    Cant redeem just because I have rooted my phone. Thanks Mcdonalds.

        In this case, I fairly doubt we're a big factor. I suspect even OZB isn't. Their app is worldwide, and there are lots of posts in Reddit etc discussing the root problem. Frankly I'm not even sure why they bother since modern Android is designed to prevent apps having access to identifiers that are tied to the device. And modern Android also generally supports up to 4 users along with a guest. Possibly their are some advantages outside NZ. Or maybe management just told them

      Yeah I assume the after school crowd pushed them over the limit.

      Surprised it happened about 3 hours sooner than the 2018 deal especially since that happened at midnight and was promoted for a few days beforehand and was 5000 fewer. But I guess more app users plus maybe the day and month. Also since they're having their 30 days of deals plus just had the free nuggets maybe more people still have the app installed for push notifications. And I wonder if they're simply better at counting now. 2018 was before the unique code & some staff were still bad at getting you to push redeem. So if they counted by number of app redemptions instead of 'purchases' through their system they must have given away a fair few more than 25000.

      Alternatively there were enough people having gunnerman's problem that they canned it. I can't find anything on Facebook, didn't check before but assume they did have something but pulled it when the deal ended. (I did notice they also stopped promoting the 30000 on their main page, I think even before it ended.)

    got it working in the end, installed version 2.10 from apkpure. This doesnt force you to upgrade.
    Removed Magisk and Root (note I had renamed Magisk before). Working.

      Are you able to redeem? If you're using old versions it can say you need to update when you try to redeem the deal (like gunnerman and msoffice95 has but for real). You could use one of the repeating deals to test if you missed the free Big Mac.

        yep, was redeeming fine. However a week ago I was redeeming fine with root and magisk! wish i had backed up that version of mcd app, dont know what it was.
