  • Not much content on it, so not surprised tat it is currently free to buyers of new devices. Other providers do the same sort of thing by bundling packages like this. I dislike these subscriptions that don't allow you to cancel and then enjoy the free period up until the free period should end. Some companies do it the right way, by allowing you to cancel at any time, and still allowing you to enjoy the free period. Otherwise you have to setup a calendar entry to make sure you don't forget.

    • It has a good mixture of show types - sci-fi, drama, etc. and content will of course grow (there's a 'complete' list at Macworld.com which gets updated). What it doesn't and can't have is the enormous back catalogue that Disney+ will have available alongside its new shows.

I dislike these subscriptions that don't allow you to cancel and then enjoy the free period up until the free period should end.

I dislike these subscriptions because you end up paying many different providers just to watch a few shows. It would be much more sensible for them to have pay-per-episode/show/season pricing so you're not basically paying for a load of dross you'll never want to watch.

What they'll also need to do is start selling shows to other providers. Sky TV already gets some of these "streaming" and US-network-exclusive shows and plays them on regular TV as well as their on-demand website.

  • With all these streaming services… it will soon be cheaper just to get sky.

    Spark Sports $20
    Apple $10
    Netflix $15
    Amazon $10
    Disney $10

    • Don't forget Neon, Lightbox, YouTube Red, … :-(

    • It’s simple. Don’t have an active sub to all of them in one go. Have Netflix active for a month, catch all their new shows and then the next month Disney+ etc

  • I get Netflix and Lightbox included with my Spark Broadband, I think this is a pretty good deal. Netflix is well used in our household and Lightbox not so much with a couple of shows being popular. The Apple TV deal is pretty attractive though and at only $8.99 a month I will probably give it a go.
