  • is there a minimum time you need to stay with them? or can u use the $100 and change companies

    • Looking at the T&C's it doesn't look like there's a minimum

In winters its not wise to switch to Flick. There rates remain pretty high all day and you will end up paying more than $100 extra in a month even if you are a low user.

Not if you are with their Fixie plan.

      • Do you know how their Fixie plan rates compare to others?

        • use www.whatsmynumber.org.nz to compare, they're all there.

          • @Vic: My standard user charges are 25.03cents for peak hours and 11.5 for non peak hours, ex GST and daily charges.

    • Agree, I had higher than $1 per kwh before. It was a terrible feeling.

      • $1 per kwh? that's unheard of, what company was that? are you sure you're not getting mixed up with the daily charge?

        • I was on Flick's flexible plan, and the price changes up and down based on demand. It was mostly up during the winter time.

  • Hey guys I'm interested. have sent in mail

    • The link is for the referrer. You either need to get a friend to refer you or use the Cheapies referral system above.

  • Electric Kiwi is good. Referral is only $50 but with the hour of power is useful.

We saved over $120 this month by a tiny effort to set our spa and aircon and dryer etc on timers. Not to mention the date was 1\3rd less than Mercury was charging us to start with just on the standard kwh rate. Worth a look.

  • We are with Powershop and they matched Electric kiwi rates plus gave us $150 credit! So pretty good as well!

    • But no free hour of power?

      • Clearly not, and used well you can save a fair chunk that way. You can save another 10% by prepaying as well. Maybe its just me, but I wouldnt go with anyone who "matches" someone else. I would go with the leader who needs to be matched.

The fixie low user rate is really low at .159 but the fixed daily charge is $1.7/day, that's at least $45 a month when it's usually 30-33c/day or $8 a month from every other company I've checked. Check your monthly usage and calculate your own bill. The only winner is the referrer who gets $100 for every sucker who signs up.

    • Mine wouldbe .25 per kWh and .97/day. So significantly more per kwh on that low fixie plan. I wonder why it varies so much. I am in a small town, but in a city it is a lot cheaper for the kwh rate, but more expensive for the daily rate. The consumer Powerswitch website is also helpful to find the best deals. The mainstream brands seem better value in the cities than in the smaller towns. My current one is charging 38cents per kwh, which is 2.5 times what you are getting charged.

Are you sure you are checking the low user plan? My understanding is the the max that can be charged on a low user plan is 33c / day charge inc GST. I am with flick on their fixie plan paying 33c / day. Their normal (not low user) plan for me would be $1.795 day and 16.9c / Kwh. What you are saying for a low user plan would not be legal.
